Is Loc-Tite all my Tachyon was missing?

I was just flipping my tachyon when all of a sudden the latch just came flying off the handel:eek: I had of course moved it to a bantangas configuration when i first recieved it and i guess the latch screw wasnt quite secure. I recovered the latch and the "female," longer part to the srew (what is that called?) but cant find the smaller threaded part anywhere:eek:  i've been on my hands and knees combing the carpet but no luck yet. So, is the fact that i didnt use any Loc-Tite the only mistake i made, or is there some trick to getting these things tite?

Another (latch related) problem i'm wondering if it is possible to correct it something i had brought up in my original Tachyon post. Because everything fits together so perfectly the latch actually wedges into the chanel of the opposite handel during manipulation, during certain moves more often than others. It does not happen too often, but plenty enough to be a little annoying. It wedges in there well enough that mid-swing the knife just stops moving. any ideas (other than taking the latch off:D )???

Ya take the latch off :)

Just kidding. That will actually stop as the knife wears in. The tolorences used in making the knife is part of the problem here, which in a way is not a problem. Basically the knife fits together to tight but with a little wear that will go away. If the problem persist you may want to sit down and latch and un-latch the knife vigoursly and numerous times. I had to do that to mine and it works like a charm.

The problem I had was that I was not able to close the knife after swinging it hard. The latch would loosen a bit and not fit the track as well. But it works like a charm now :)

Yeah I'd use Loc Tite but no permanent only. You never know you may want to go with a latchless someday. About the screw try using a large magnet on the floor maybe that'll work.

yeah... if all else fails, home depot has a big one on a broomstick, for harvesting stray hardware, so you can sweep the area more easily.

I know this is off topic but permanent loc-tite will release with heat. I was once told by the loc-tite product rep to use a soldering iron on the head of the screw you want to remove. Now I only buy red. c.

Loc tite breaks pretty easily actually.

I use green (higher strength than red) red, and blue all the time. I've never had a time where a normal hair dryer wont release the stuff.

Thanks to all for the help. Fortunately i did end up finding the screw, it ended up on my low lying bed and not the floor. As for the Loc Tite, sounds like i've got to get some!

Mike, thanks for the tip on the latch problem. This knife really is incredible to swing and that was the only minor thing that was bothering me, but NO MORE I TELL YOU!:D
