Is my 112 FG genuine?

I recently bought one 110 and 112 FG. As you can see in pictures, analysing date codes and stamps, 110 is manufactured in 2010, stamped with number and everything standard.

112 FG is worrying me. It has only Buck USA, with anvil, indicating 2002 year of manufacture, but with no 112 number.

Is this ok, or I got scammed?

You're fine. I have many Bucks from 2002 and not one has the model number. That year (100th anniversary) they decided to go with Buck/Anvil/ U.S.A. instead of the standard method of marking.

The only concern I would have is blade length. It's hard to tell from pictures, but sometimes people will sell knives that have been re-profiled after having a tiny bit of the tip broken off.

May be just camera angle, but the 112 blade should be checked to make sure it's three inches.

Otherwise, congrats on fine knives. I always look for chances to buy those anvil stamps and haven't found a good deal on one yet, so you are wise to get one.

Here's a quote from Joe Houser about that.

Are model numbers necessary?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heres a question for all of us knife users and collectors;
Do you feel that it is necessary to have a model number stamped onto each knife?
This year, in celebration of Buck's 100th year, we replaced the model number with an anvil mark. Should we leave the model number off for next year?
I will be taking your comments on this topic to a meeting in which we will be discussing this very issue, I appreciate any feedback you can give.
Take care,

The blade does look a little short and the finger grooves also look like a home job but I think its a Buck 112
If you like the looks and the feel in your hand you have a winner for personal use

Good. Glad it's the right length.

I can see it is tilted just a bit so I suppose the finger grooves don't show like they really should.

I love the Anvil and Idaho stamps, but I honestly have had zero luck finding them in excellent shape for decent prices so I only have a few.

Well done.

It's the angle. I measured blade, 3 inches sharp :)

Finger grooves are normal.

thank you all big time :)

Perhaps its the angle but the finger grooves look different than the one's I have.

yup it be a real buck knife no dought on that count
but ... i does think it is a home job on dem finger groves...
humm buck sway dont have one o them
email me ifn yo is not real happy with it

Both knives are real nice. I like the scales on the 110. To me the finger grooves do look a bit shallow. Dave's looks like I am used to for finger grooves.
