Hi, Everyone ! I'm new hear. My nephew will be going into the service in the spring. I want to get him a tomahawk, which I know nothing about. Is the RMJ tactical that good for the price or is there somthig else anyone can suggest. Thanks

i took the eagle talon on a day hike once with minimal gear. it is too heavy and cumbersome for what i wanted so i have never carried it since. i'm sure the military guys are already carrying alot anyways so i would think hard about adding to that considerable weight:(

They definitely live up to their reputation, but if size/weight is a concern, you should really look at the VTac. I absolutely love mine! If I was going to buy a RMJ hawk, though, it would be their new Shrike tomahawk.

Take about an inch off of that spike and it would not feel so clumsy. The shrike is an impressive tool nice handle. Held one at the Blade Show would never pay what they want for it.

As for the weight if you have a good use for it, it's worth the few pounds.

It's not so much weight issue ,it's the cost. I'm disable and on limited income but I want to help my nephew the best I can. I would like to give him a .45 instead but can't.

remember if soldiers can break it they will......so if you can not get him an RMJ forge get him a TOPS KNIVES F.A.S.T. axe you can find them for around$150.00

Fiercerabbitt- As a substitute tomahawk, for a more affordable price, tthere are good, servicable tomahawks available from Cold steel and ragweed forge. Our own Vector on this forum sells very nice modified 'hawks, suitable for military use.
