Is it just me, or does the Kershaw/ZT Forum have an excessive amount of threads complaining about the products they sell? About 95% of it seems like nitpicking and sometimes it reads off as if the knife is the worst thing in the world.

I don't mind reading about something wrong with your knife (hey, it happens), but please give some positive criticism at the end of your post as well.

Bad thread: Hey guys, my knifes not centered. WTF?

Good thread: Hey guys, my knife didn't come centered. I really dig the knife and it came razor sharp from the factory. What should I do?

Maybe I'm just in a bad mood.

If I get a bad one, I will say so. I also will send it in and say when the issue is resolved. If all you want to do is gripe about it and can't send it in, to give the company a chance to fix it, then I don't think you should bother posting about your dissatisfaction.

I think that people are more likely to make a post when they are unhappy with a knife, so maybe the posts are skewed a little in that direction. I agree with Sister Jill that its good form to give the company the opportunity to correct a problem before posting about it. Fortunately, I have a sweet spirit so I never complain about anything. :p

I came from a gaming forum that had 90% complaining thread also. The people having bad experiences were complaining and the people having a good experience were gaming. So I'm guessing the people with good experiences here are just happily flipping/cutting/rubbing their knives instead of posting?

it seems like it sometimes, especially with sticky locks and strong detents. I'm just glad all my issues with my Kershaw/ZT's were easy for me to handle. As in a little adjustment here and there, and figuring out the technique to open em and I'm good to go.

I am a dealer and I have not had one bad kershaw yet. I not had one customer come back to me and said somethng bad about there kershaw knife that they had bought from me.

Sometimes the crying is high, others not so much. It's mostly people that have little to no experience with knives that are the biggest offenders..

I think that last part pretty much sums it up.

I would have to agree.

Kind of reminds me of a question my old man asked me when I was younger. We went out to eat and I ordered a steak and when it came it wasn't exactly cooked to specs, but was pretty much the same thing, " Are you going to be one of those people who always complain and have it sent back, or are you going to be a man and eat it?".

If it works use it, what would your dad or gramps say if it was theirs? I kow mine would call me a wuss and revoke my man card for acting like a ...well you know!

The internet is just a complaint forum...

I agree about too much complaining on the forums. I have a business making scales and have 1600 + feedback with one complaint. That complaint was a dealer who got mad that I couldn't sell him scales at a crazy discount. He opened an account, bought one scale and then left bad feedback.
The only way to keep high customer satisfaction is to go above and beyond. Regular good service is no longer acceptable these days. If someone is unhappy for whatever reason I will(many times) give a refund, offer another item at half price, and also let them keep the original. This of course cost me money but they end up happy and I avert negative feedback that last forever.
One example is a fella who got a skyline scale from me many months ago. He acted like all was fine but has gone to forums and said "yeah Dan makes quality stuff, but don't get any folder scales like the skyline they are not fit for that type knife.... If he had a complaint he should have contacted me and I would have resolved the issue. Just because he feels like he got a bad product from me he will forever jump in on a conversation about my business and talk down my products. I guess he doesn't realize that no ones perfect and my product is continually changing for the better with newer materials and know how.
If I ever do a review of someones knife/product I will be sure to be fair and balanced. I read somewhere here on BF that a happy customer will tell a few but an unsatisfied customer will tell everyone. So True

We live in an age where information can be exchanged and lightning speeds. This in addition to our addiction to bad news and sensationalism only magnifies small problems and masks the blessings in our lives. Every day should be thanksgiving day.

I really meant that as a response to the OP, but seems more like a cultural statement.

Bottom line, I like Kershaw, and I like ZT. I don't expect 100 percent perfection, but I really like that they strive for it, and it shows.

I just want to take an opportunity really quickly to say that you go way above above and beyond. You are by far the most helpful vendor that I have ever dealt with and I assure it will never be forgotten!

My personal philosophy is to allow the manufacturer an opportunity to make it right before taking it public. More often than not this prompts me to make a positive follow up post that includes details of the orignal issue and how it was resolved. By doing so you can tell the whole story and that information is what's most helpful to others.

In reality, you know the saying "opinons are like...." well you know, everyone has one!
