Is there a Lefty List?

The Cryo has drawn me to look at Kershaw knives. I really like the Quad carry option. Well, the left side carry option anyway.

It seems most knives I like aren't left hand carry friendly.

So is there a list somewhere, of knives that can be carried lefty?

I have the 2012 catalog downloaded. But I'd like a list that I can look at without seeing nice knives I can't have.

If one doesn't exist maybe I'll start one.

Thanks.

Do you need a left handed fork as well? Why cant you use normal knives?

Was that really necessary?
All he wanted was to know which Kershaw knives had a pocket clip that could be swapped for left hand carry. What is a “normal knife” anyways? What seems normal to you may be abnormal to someone else, you know. Im a lefty too, maybe we’ll switch everything to favor left hand carry just to put things into perspective for you.

- It's not our fault you use the wrong hand. :devilish:

What a douche! I'm sure someone here can help you out a-man67. As for people like ej21, unfortunatley you have to weed through posts from the pricks like him.

All ZT knives are at least tri-carry and most are quad-carry.

For Kershaws, the list is...
1860 - Piston
1870 - Knockout
1880 - Echelon
1555TI - Cryo
1990 - Brawler
1780CB - Rake (tri-carry)

Then there is also the 1920 and 1970 that can be left or right carry, but are not tri or quad (the 1920 can only be tip down and the 1970 can only be tip up).

I think I was meant to be left-handed, my dad is, but an injury made me right handed. I understand lefties plight.

Regardless, I really appreciate the multiple clips position options. Some clips don't work covering the pivot screw, I think thats the main issue. I think Kershaw is on to this and is drilling all the holes they can for clip placement.

The 1735 Zing (US) is tri carry. I use mine lefty tip up.

RAM has three position clip and is very easy to open and close left handed. Get one while you can they are out of production.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

I haven't looked closely at ZT knives, but now I'll start paying attention to them as well...

I wish there were a list. As it is I just have to look at each model individually. For instance the Speedform II with Elmax doesn't have a flipper and only has a right-handed thumb stud. ZT are mostly ambidextrous. Definitely worth a look especially with their high quality.

As a lefty, I often look at what blades offer it, but I find myself more and more just overlooking it. I carry sometimes a BM Mini-Grip, and it's nice that it has a lefty option. Similarly, I like the RAM and Talon II for the same reason, along with my ZT0550. However I absolutely love the Packrat and Skyline, and while I may in the future drill them for lefty carry, I manage just fine with them how they are. Most of the time I'm only able to carry/use my Victorinox Soldier or Compact, at which point super-crazy lightning-fast deployment isn't something available, and the thing I use the most (my phone) involves me turning it somehow (having it placed however it was in my pocket) and then turning it on.

My point is that after while, you just get used to things, and I love certain Kershaws so much, that I just deal with the righty-centric designs. It's a shame that I don't really like the newer designs so much, so those tri/quad carry options are lost on me. Like I said, I'll eventually drill the blades I love for lefty carry, but until then, I don't let that be the thing that stops me from enjoying a design I really love.

It would be nice to have a comprehensive list of lefty-carry knives though...

Being a lefty I sympathize. I started out with the Buck 110 carried in a sheath on my left side. No other options so I didn't know any better. Worked well for me. As the pocket clips came out, they all started out right hand carry and I learned to adapt. Takes a LOT of practice to get adept, especially if you need a blade in a hurry- cutting a stirrup leather you are hung up in or a rope on a calf twisted the wrong way. Even so, still a lot faster than opening a sheath and getting out the old Buck. Now I am spoiled since there are plenty of blades that are left hand friendly. Since I now have that choice, I do allow that to be part of my selection process. As for a list, I am always looking but have't found one yet. I have to look at pics of both sides of the handles and go from there. Even though you may get the left carry option for the clip, some liner locks don't seem to work well for me so it's a crap shoot until I get the knife in my hand. I have found that the Axis locks from Benchmade with a left side clip option seem to offer the best all around left handed feel FOR ME.
