Is there or Isnt there a Massad Ayoob in G10??.

I have heard from a couple people that there is some G10 Massad Ayoobs, but Ive done a search and cant find any info anywhere. Also if there is any G10 ayoobs, what would the expected price for one be?.

There was no production Ayoob in G10. It is possible that Spyderco made a G10 protoype or two, but I have never heard of such.

The Ayoob is one of my favorite models. No G-10 version was ever made. I don't believe we ever even had a proto with G-10 or I would have coveted it big time-

Thats to bad. That would be awesome. Anyway, there is someone on ebay that has one listed as having G10 handles. The pictures arent very good so you cant tell. I think I should go tell him to fix his post and let everyone know that the handles are not in fact G10. Thanks Joyce:thumbup:

Ms. Joyce I agree with you. The Ayoob was one of my personal all time favorites as well. I do wish that Spyderco could get something going to where you could send your knife back to Spyderco and have different handle scales installed for a fee. I would just love to have one of my Ayoobs in either G-10 or linen Micarta. If people would pay to have it done I don't see why that couldn't be implemented.

One other note: I have 7 Massad Ayoobs in total ( I know I need professional help ) But one thing I have noticed about that model in particular is that they were not consistent with their handle material on that particular model. For instance I have 4 Massad Ayoobs that were made with jet black shinny handles while the other 3 have a flat matte finish with a dark gray colored handle scales. I WONDER WHY????

I am also loving the Ayoob I got from you. Mine is like a flat grey and I think it is very classy looking. I would like to have some black linen micarta scales on an Ayoob but that model is now gone so I guess that is not going to happen.

I think some people might just confuse Micarta with G10. "It's not FRN, so it must be G10."

Yep, have, at various times seen G-10, micarta, FRN, and CF all labeled as one of the others. But in this case they're confusing Almite coated aluminum with G10.

Question JD, is there a discernable pattern within your Ayoobs (like all the shiny ones being numbered and all the dull ones not)?
