Is this a real Buck 110 - late 1960's

Hello all. My favorite possession over the past 40+ years is my Buck 110. As I finally expand, I have come across this BUCK* 110.

My concern is that it is much lighter in weight and the scale hight is significantly shorther/thinner. I wish I could find a good reference book.

Anyways, I need to borrow you "experts."

Can this be real?

Ok I can't post a picture

Yup, that's a nice old-timer most likely made in 1967 (a few may have gone on into early 1968).

You'll have to use the link Stumps gave you fine-tune an answer (he's already narrowed it down pretty good).

Nice knife.

The early ones were built a little lighter......then they started trying to make the indestructible 110, which resulted in the bigger versions.

I just looked again and realized it has to be a 3rd/1st. The 2nd/3rd has a horizontal stamp.

It would be made 44 years ago either way.

I have been lurking in this forum for about a month. Glad to have joined.

You guys are awesome and I've "un"fortunately got the Buck Bug again. I've moved about 8 times in my career and my first buck never went with the moving van. It was always in my car, with me, to keep an eye on it. Love 'em. Thanks for the help!

I'm new here also.

I've owned Buck knives continuously since the early 1970's.

I have to say that I've learned more about Buck knives on this forum in the short time I've been here than I did all the rest of those 40 years. There are some VERY knowledgeable people on here....I'm just not one of them. :)

I became a life member of the Buck Collector's Club (#2245) earlier this year because I am a Buck collector, I just didn't realize it until recently. I am also a Buck knife user.

Welcome!!

Welcome Stumps and DL. Hang with us and you'll get more good stuff in the Buck collectors newsletters and from other collectors here. Hope you enjoy your stay. DM

I will agree that your one line 110 was made in 1967, I do not think that it could be from 1968, as there are two other versions after that one also listed as 1967. One of them being the one line without the dot which I do have one of, and the first two line was also listed as being made in 1967. Still stranger things have happened, as Buck likes to use up old parts regaurdless of the time period they find the old parts. This is what makes collecting Bucks so much fun. HL

Well, there were so many 110s said to be made in 1967.

Seems there's probably a good chance that some or all slopped over into 1966 or 1968 to some extent.

Difficult to say.

Welcome to you both you have found a great place to pursue BUCK Knives as well as meet great members.

Welcome guys! Its great to have you here!
One thing to keep in mind when trying to make sense of Buck Knife variations is that rarely did a change happen at the beginning of the year. If it did, it was purely by accident. (unless your talking about a new product intro or some major change)
Years ago some of the old timers were talking about the early years of the 110 and they said someone would come up with a possibly better way to make the 110. The shop would try the new way for a few hundred (?) knives, if it did not pan out, they went back to the old way or on to another "new" way. More than one variation would be possible in the same year. Was there more than one variation in any given year? That level of detail we dont have but the little bit we do know suggest that 1967 was a busy time.

Thanks All. Joe, I'd like to send her over to Buck for an overhaul and the spa treatment. Do you recommend that for this age knife? I'm not looking to sell it, just want it to be admired for what it is.

Hi DLE60 -

Very nice!

I just picked up an early 70's 110, it is not as rounded on the bolsters as your example.

Thanks for the pics and congrats .

best regards -
