Is this the place to look for shurikens ?

I saw some star shaped shurikens that were unique and not expensive at all . These pivoted in the middle . By this I mean two pointed blades over each other pivoted and locked into a four pointed star . I saw them in a place called something like philmars (sp) over twenty years ago . Ten bucks a piece for well made interesting throwers . I would have got a couple but I owed a buddy a gift who really helped me out . It was also the first time I saw a cold steel knife . I know I have said I don,t like some of their stuff . This min folder tanto was nice .It was the first folder I ever saw that the blade didn,t wobble at the handle pivot . Super nice blade and design . So I got him that .
Does anyone know where I could get any shuriken like this ? If not do you know where I could get good quality non folders for a good price ? I already have a couple that are more or less stamped out pieces of metal I sharpened myself .
I am looking for something better .
 
If memory serves. you may have seen these more in the 1980s, where they were the stuff of advertising in many martial arts magazines in the Ninja-crazed mid-80s.

Virtually all of these were cheaply made, high-gauge stamped metal, and the tips would bend quickly, or the center pin would break and you'd have three pieces after three throws.

You'd be better served, seriously, making your own like you've been doing. If you absolutely had to have them, I don't think I could be forced to pay more than single digit dollar amounts for one.

They're not much more sophisticated than can lids.
 
Watchful you are correct as to what decade . I do seem to remeber these were a little better quality than that . They may have been something copies were made from . They did not seem stamped to me . They were a bit too thick for that . They were ground with good edges . Of course after so much time it is hard to say . I guess we both know after all this time that if they were good quality they are proabably 3 times as expensive now . Ijust would have liked a set for those special days . I will be trimming the c;s; kukuuri handle soon .
