Issues with Monarch?

I personally like the feel of Jaguars, so I've been looking forward to getting a heavy-duty Monarch. However, I know some Monarchs have having these problems (blade+handle contact), or just an unlucky few?
If not all of the Monarchs experience these problems, have all the defective ones at www.KnifeMart.com been taken away? I'm asking because I don't want to play roullett with $130 when ordering a knife.

By the way, when will the maker of the Monarchs release a new set of Monarchs with kicks?

Sorry, but in the 2nd sentence of my first post, I meant to say "I was wondering if all the Monarchs experience these defects?".

BTW, I believe I misspelled *"roulette". Forgive me for my grammarical blunders;).




*roulette-(noun)-gambling game in which a wheel is used.
 
My Monarch has all the problems mentioned on this board (blade edge hitting the inside of the handles, latch hitting the blade tip when the knife is closed, poor finish on the handles). I was very disappointed in the knife I got.
 
Can't help you with the Monarch info, sorry, but you can just click the edit button to change a post without adding a new one.
 
Rich at knifemart is trying very hard to avoid the same mistakes found on the first shipment. He stands by his products, and should you wind up with one that has those issues, send it back to him and he'll fix it. I know it's a hassle to do, but you have to applaud his determination to do the right thing.

I know the handles can be refinished. Is there any way for the other problems to be fixed by Rich?
 
Since the handles are responsible for most of the issues, refinishing them would be a big step in the resolution of the Monarch's problems. The only other one is to be very careful with the blade profile. It'll probably needs to be shorten a bit to clear the latch problem, and thinned a bit to not hit the handles. There's plenty of tang to not have to do a dedicated kick.
