It"s here !!! Kit Carson and a Meteorite

Ed,

Can't get the pic. Could be on my end but I seem to be able to get other pics to come up. :(

It is so so nice. Thanks Kit :D

Meteorite blade, bolsters, spacer with engine turned liners. The Ex. grade pearl scales also have a very thin red liner under them.

George knew the info on the pattern in the steel.
Thanks George I could not remember the pattern name.
I need to go check the weight on this one.
It is heavier that my D2 model 4. Kit says meteorite is not
know to hold a edge. I must say the knife is sharp right now.
Guess we better take this one for a test drive.

By the way my birthday is tomorrow. Just in case some of yall want to send me a Carson. What a birthday. ;)

Ed,
I am always game for posting pics.

That's an incredible visual, Ed. Thank you.

The MOP is stunning, and the steel patterns are unusually interesting. What is that blade made of? Bolster material? Anything out-of-the-ordinary that's unseen in the pic? Size?

Thanks again--very exciting!

Just another "ho-hum" effort by Kit. ;)

Ed, congrats to both you and Kit. You both should be proud.

Awesome.

A bit of explanation for those who are wondering, the blade and bolsters are made from iron meteorite without any additional forging or playing about. The pattern is called the Widmanstaaten pattern, the crystal structure that results from the formation and subsequent heating and cooling of the meteorite. The meteorite is saw cut and lightly acid etched to show off the pattern. Unfortunately most meteorites have little or no carbon in the alloy and will not hold an edge.

It sure is pretty though, real pretty....as we used to say back in the 60's FAR OUT!

Geeeeez Ed, what are you trying to do corner the market on Carson Knives? Hmmmmm, that may not be such a bad idea. ;)

This one is stunning!

I won't be foolish enough to ask which one is your favorite, but I will tell you which one mine is. It's the one in Stellite & Stag....but wait you're probably saying, "I don't own one in Stellite & Stag." Yeah, I know, but luckily I do. :D

Bwahahahahahahaha

Thanks for that explanation. So basically it's...an incredible art knife. A beautiful exercise, indeed.

I wonder if Kit ever thinks of changing direction a little and trying to make some real-world users?
