I'm just wondering if there's a difference in the types of micarta that ESEE knives are offered in. I can't seem to find any written difference on the ESEE site or on any dealer sites.

The reason I'm asking is because the E-6, for instance, looks like it has different micarta than the E-5. The E-6 micarta has a more gray look to it and looks to have a finer thread count compared to the "green canvas" on the E-5.

I've also noticed that the micarta on the DT E-3's looks different than the micarta on the black E-3's.

Simply put, does ESEE offer linen micarta as well as canvas micarta on there knives.

Guess it wasn't so quick, sorry :D Call me "Curious George."

The ESEE 5 has canvas micarta and the six has Linen micarta. Canvas is more grippy.

esee-3 mil, esee-3 desert tan: canvas micarta
esee-3 od green: orange g10
esee-3 black: linen micarta

esee-4 desert tan: canvas micarta
esee-4 od green: orange g10
esee-4 black: linen micarta

esee-5: canvas micarta

esee-6: linen micarta

izula, izula 2: canvas micarta

junglas: canvas micarta

I don't know why I couldn't find that on the ESEE site but I'm not surprised I couldn't.
I've heard that canvas micarta is a little more resilient than linen, is this true?

I got this quote from VZ grips regarding Canvas/Linen Micarta and G10:

"...Keep in mind that ALL of the micarta (paper, linen, and canvas) and G10 are extremely strong, an overkill in strength for the application at hand. I have been asked numerous times which is the strongest of the three. The answer is Canvas in the micarta, followed by Linen, then paper. The G10 composite is the sturdiest of all of them. I doubt that you’ll ever see the day you test their strength to the limits..."

Very helpful, thanks!
