.....and I did it to myself! It's Ironwood.

There's just no end to the things you can do to these kit knives. This one is a small DDR-2 that I decided to do a little sculpturing. Don't even start on the "When are you going to do one from the ground up....?" I hear ya', but I'm havin' too much fun to ruin it with an attempt with no equipment or knowledge. Someday, I promise.

So--I just give you this little guy. I decided against any further embellishment, because the simplicity of the lines and coloring I felt was enough. Other features: beveled and rubbed bolsters, hand-rubbed finish on the blade, that sexy red liner, and the whole handle grows in proportion to the end. It fits the hand perfectly, BTW. Cool!

That's just too cool, Coop.

You're good. Not only is your work clean, even, and symmetrical, it's also very pleasing to the eye. With enough practice, anyone can do clean work, but to be able to make it "sexy," well, that takes a certain talent and flair that even some top name makers still lack.

Keep it up!

That handle is just too cool for school. I've been drawing some in a similar fashion, but they don't look nearly as clean as that.

Oh, and your model can actually cut things and such!

Coop --- okay, if you're not going to do a "Coop-Only" line, how about a collaberative effort with (fill in the blank). Great lines -- just watched "The Maltese Falcon" and the flow of your handle design reminds me of that black bird. Maybe one in ebony, eh?

Beautiful flowing lines...that carving on the handle is just flat awesome!

There are many top name folder makers that don't put a knife together that flows this well.

Don't stop, I wanna see more! :D

Coop,

That's wild!! You did one hell of a job!!! I like the wood back spacer too, nice touch :)

Now order some damn Ti. sheet and a bar of 440c for the next one

For your comments and feedback. Even Neil.... ;)

My start on this had the curve ending at the corner of the handle and the bolster. I wasn't that good with my hand and so I *had* to extend it into the bolster after a wrong cut. What a difference.

Sometimes from our mistakes comes an even better end-product! That's how it all works, right?

I have another carbon large one I'm working on right now. It'll be a 'dress tactical' (if there is such a beast!). Mike, there's a bit of ebony in this knife. But not much. You'll see.

I wish I had a CLUE how to design a folder's mechanism, cut a blade, GRIND a blade, etc., etc.... All with my rotary tools, my Harbor Freight belt sander, and a wooden band saw. But I'm thinkin....:D

Hasta,

Coop
