I received my new Sebenza 2 weeks ago and it has been my EDC knife since. i used to alternate between a Emerson CQC-7 and an Al Mar Sere 2000. I am very impressed with my Sebenza and it is everything my (now) fellow Sebenzanists said it was. I've used it during my yard work and it brought a smile to my face when I cut a piece of jute and I could hear the faint ringing in the blade (how sweet it is). I recently used it at a barbecue and it cut ribs, steak and potatoes like you wouldn't believe. Well I am hooked, and I can honestly say that the Sebenza will be my EDC knife from now on, and the way it is built I'm sure that will be a long time (hopefully i can talk the wife into getting me another for backup). I would like to know how long after gettiing your Sebenza it had to be broken down for cleaning. I know all of my fellow Sebenzanists will be hearing from me again soon.. I would be intertested in anyone who may have carried a Sere2000 and can compare it to the Sebenza.. To me there is no equal to the Sebenza...well maybe another SEBENZA... hope to hear from all of my new friends soon.

Welcome to the forums and to the family of Sebenzas. I know of at least one person here that has both the Sere and a large Sebenza, Kodiak PA, he may drop by and make note of his findings but I know that he really likes both knives very well, but has had the Sebenza a bit longer and won't give it up....

Welcome to the addiction, er, um, club! You will find yourself thinking up reasons to justify another one, and another long into the future!

The cleaning issue depends on your carry and use I'd imagine. I break mine down every 2 weeks whether it needs it or not. Pocket lint, grit, and the like. If I use in a grimy or gritty condition I break down just to be sure.

Nothing like a freshly cleaned Sebenza in the pocket!

Thanks Gary and Elvis for your feedback. I know I will enjoy sharing Sebenza experiences with you all from now on. I have carried just about all of the more modern tactical folders that were the in thing at the time, however I find the Sebenza is the one I have been truly searching for. I use my knife quit a bit (what ever i am carrying at the time) so i like to keep it clean and sharp. It seems like the Pinnacle is trying to compete with the Sebenza, what do you think?

Thanks for the response guys and it's good to hear from you, I have been reading everything in this forum for quit sometime but never registered, I guess i didn't want to be an insider until I got my Sebenza.I have carried almost every tactical folder that was the in thing at the time and it seems I finely found what I was truly looking for in the Sebenza. It will be fun to let everyone know how the old Sebe is doing from time to time and it will be interesting to see how other people use theirs. I now I will use mine for what it was meant for from an everyday carry to hunting fishing and work. Do you guys think the Pinnacle is a knockoff of the Sebenza?

Sorry if i posted more than one reply still new at this, just wanted to say thanks guys for the response..

I disassembled mine two or three weeks after getting it. Talk about remarkable fit, I took all the screws out, and the knife still functioned as usual-I had to pop it apart.
Only taken it apart once in the past couple of months. It comes clean in the sink or with a blast of compressed air, and it's still buttery smooth, though I haven't lubed it in awhile, so I don't fool with it much.

Welcome to the forums, and congrats on getting an awesome knife!

btw, that guy Gary makes some pretty killer sheaths, should you ever want one for your Sebenza

Blademan that would be a great idea all of the Sebenza owners together for a barbecue.. i have that urge to take it aprt and clean it and it's not even dirty.

Del, word of caution here, when you take your knife apart, give extreme care when replacing the washers and watch where they go, as one is larger than the other. Common error is to have the washer go beneath the spacer and that will cause you major headaches so please take care when you go about doing this!

But do it by all means as that was what Chris intended but it's not a slap together knife...
