Just returned from a trip to the post office....everytime I go into that place they have something new to prevent me from shipping parcels. This one takes the cake though.

I had two parcels that I knew were overweight for registered mail so no problem I will send them express post.....no can do!!?? Why not, well the system will not accept them because the zip codes in the address require the boxes to be larger than I have them packed in (the boxes now are 5" X 5" X 17"... and they want LARGER boxes).

Not all zip codes require the larger boxes just some???? Has anyone else heard of this or is the computer at Canada Post screwed up?

Net result is that the shipment will be a day later going out and a lot heavier as a result of the extra packaging. And yet another trip back to the post office to see what they have in mind to further frustrate their customers. It seems that they are actively trying not to be in the business of mail delivery.

I know what you mean.

They told me that their tracking numbers aren't any good until AFTER the package has been delivered. What happens if they lose the package??????? You ask me, It is just another ploy to get more money out of you.

Talked to Canada Post today, seems the computer program is the problem. In order to ship express post you have to lie to the computer but if you lie to the computer and the parcel goes missing the insurance is no good. OK! why doesn't Canada Post reprogram the computer? Nope not until the next routine upgrade, maybe.

Good thing that working for the Post Office is a lifetime job, it keeps them off the street.

Isn't bureaucracy grand. The rules are the rules no matter how stupid they are. You would think that this would be easy to fix, but these idiots would rather inconvenience people than do anything at more than a sloths pace. When they do get around to changing things they will probably make it worse.

Didja ever see a postal worker wink?
They open & shut one eye :D

Sorry, I couldn't resist...
Apologies to any MC's out there...
Wouldn't want them to go postal.
Oops, did it again ;)

Just funnin with y'all ;)

Hope my knife gets here...

Ya think the Post Office is bad.....

I had a package shipped to me via UPS from New York....(I live in Arizona)....after three weeks and still no package..I called the company I bought the item from...they told me they shipped it 3 weeks prior and gave me the tracking number...so I went on line and tracked it. It had been re-routed incorrectly 3 times by UPS to Chicago...and returned three times to New York to be reshipped...so I called them...."When will I ever get the package"? (asks I)..."Another week" (says UPS)...so I wait...call again..."Where is it"? (asks I)..."We re-routed it incorrectly again" (says they)..."Will I have to pay for this shipping fiasco"? (asks I)..."Oh no...not if the address is correct on the package" (says UPS)

Got the package a few days later...address was correct and it even had my phone number on the shipping label in case of problems....so I call UPS and tell them the whole story again and state the address was correct...I want my shipping costs back....They tell me...Hold on to your seats for this one.....UPS does not guarantee delivery to a home address..only to business addresses....(I spoke to a supervisor who echoed the same policy)

Now...I told the woman that I don't ever remember seeing in any one of their TV ads the disclaimer...."Oh by the way...if you ship to a home address and we never get it there...TOO BAD!!!". They have insurance if the package gets damaged...but none for if the package just evaporates on one of the brown "Flying Dutchmen" they have trolling our roadways.

I also reminded the woman of the commercial they are running about a company getting a package from the US to China in under 5 days by using UPS..I told the woman that they were engaging in false advertising because they can't get one small box from New York to Arizona in less than a month...it would have been quicker to put the box in a bottle...throw it in the Atlantic ocean (in New York)..and have it drift around South America and I could pick it up in San Diego by Sea World in the Pacific Ocean.

End of rant

Reprogramming stuff for large organizations is a pain and a half thanks to the layers of red tape and inane procedures. To change one stupid line of code (30 seconds work) means at least two meetings, insufferable multipage forms and the signatures of every damn VP in the organization to agree to the change...
