Hey all,
I was wondering how comfy the Izula and Izula II handles are for non prolonged use?
I'm sure I wouldn't want to use it for all day cutting, but for occasional chores, is it comfy enough?
And let me get this straight, the Izula and Izula II are identical except the II has 1/2" extra length in the handle, and can also be ordered with micarta handle slabs which just screw on and off, right?
Thanks all.
Lenny

I have a regular Izula and I find it very comfortable both in the hand and around the neck. I have the handles and I've whittled/cut/scrapped/etc. for prolonged periods with no issues. The Izula II comes with the handles included and yes, it is 1/2" longer. Blade and sheath are identical to Izula I.

For occasional use, either would be fine. The regular Izula does have micarta scales that you can just screw on, but they don't cover the whole handle like the scales do for the Izula-II

For prolonged use, the Izula-II would be the way to go. The full grip makes a big difference. I've got both, I prefer the Izula-II either way, just suits me better. I carry it daily.

I always tell people that the Izula I is the perfect sheath, neck knife. If it's going to spend most of it's time in the sheath and less time being used, get that.

If your going to be using it more than carrying it, get the II.

The II is really comfortable in the hand for prolonged use.

The scales for the Izula help. I've made a few traps with it and felt no discomfort.

I do prefer a bigger handle for prolonged use, however. :)

I kinda dig the Izula with scales, but I noticed that with just the wrap, my grip - while smaller, is even down the whole handle - not so with the scales. I feel my pinky wrapping a little funky because it is not even with the 3 other fingers. But they are nice regardless.

Personally I think I'm gonna wait for Sh@rp's offerings for the little guy. :)

I have the original one, with handle slabs - it's super comfortable for everyday sort of stuff. If you start getting into doing tougher stuff where you are really putting your shoulder into it, that's the only time I really notice the smallness of the handle - it still does the job fine, but a bigger handle would be more solid and comfortable.

I've handled the regular Izula with nothing (uncomfortable in my opinion) wrap, which I've whittled with for long periods just fine, no different from any other blade I've used for a while. And I made some custom scales... perfect, love em, and it was well worth the effort. The Izula II; I am willing to bet you could go as long or longer on the Izy II as just about any other knife out there. Those slabs look simple, honestly they are simple, but simple doesn't make the design bad. They are just great.

God bless,
Adam

Good to hear that. My "Izzie II" should be here tomorrow. :D
OK, It's here, and I like the feel of it. :)
Here it is shown next to its old school counterpart, the Schrade USA Little Finger.
The Schrade has been a very comfortable to use when considering its small size.
I suspect my new Izula-II will carry on the tradition that the little Schrade started. ;)
