James stopped by on his way to the Fall Hammer In at Old Washington and asked me to photograph a couple of his beautiful knives. a Dog Bone Bowie, and his Black Bart Dirk. Really nice work. Way to go Jim.

I like'em both, but I really like the bowie!! Nice work Mr. Batson, and nice pictures as well Chuck.

I like that top one alot. It is very nice looking I especially like the long tapered tip of the bowie and the nicely grained wood used for the handle.

Thanks for posting these, Chuck. Jim Batson's rendering of the old historic type blades is quite special. Very few makers have the depth of understanding Jim has amassed over the years concerning the origin of these old designs and how they were made. The result is a rare degree of authenticity which makes owning examples of Jim's work very satisfying.

Beautiful work. I know that people say that you don't have to be a rocket scientist to make knives, but Dr. Batson is living proof that it doesn't hurt:p:D

The Dogbone Bowie is one that he makes often. Obviously a style he really likes. I do too. The dirk doesn't turn my crank, but it looks beautifully made.

Great photos, Chuck.

Wow and double-wow, beauties both! Thanks for the look Chuck, we don't see nearly enough of his work here on the forums.
