Yesterday, the Brown Santa left me the new Mission Wallet I ordered from BladeArt. For those of you that don't know, the MW is a small wallet, more of a coinpurse, with a pocket for a small to medium sized folder and a small pen (think Camillus EDC and Fisher Bullet Pen). Behind those two pockets is a pocket for your cards and such. The body of this wallet is a zippered pouch (zipper is YKK) that can contain your coins, folding money, etc. Dimensionally, it is about 3" wide by 4.25" long (guessing, I didn't measure it). It comes in soft brown or black leather. I got mine in brown. The stitching is even and strong. It looks like it will hold up over the long term.

Loaded with a few cards, a knife, a pen, and some cash, it may be too thick for some. I have 2 cards (ATM and credit), my license, 5 biz cards, my HMO card (CC sized), and my hunting/fishing license in their paper pouch (my ccw is in there as well). I have a REKAT Savant in the knife pouch (borderline fit, I removed the clip) and a Fisher bullet pen in the pen pouch. Currently, I have no cash or anything else in the zippered pouch. It's not too thick to carry in my back pocket like a standard wallet, but that may change if I loaded it down with cash.

I'm using it as my primary wallet for the time being. I want to see how durable it will be. I don't think there will be any problems with the leather or stitching. However, I have seen some problems with the nylon lining. Those problems are entirely my own fault for overstuffing the thing with too big a knife and probably too many cards. More reasonable folks won't have a problem.

My only complaint is the size. I'd like to see it about 1" wider and maybe 1/2" longer.

Price is $27 with $5.50 shipping.

A larger "version" may be on the horizon . . . I underestimated the desire to pocket carry larger knives. Hopefully that will be possible soon. Thanks for the kind words!:D

I saw those. Was unimpressed. I wanted exactly what I got with the Mission Wallet. I just wish it were a tad larger since the Savant is my smallest non-slipjoint folder (my other is a Buck 110). If I had an EDC or similar, it would be a non-issue.

Newsun makes some nice "gear wallets", but I wanted to try the MW first.

I received a black Mission Wallet last week. It looks like a real nice product. The stitching is neat and even. Can't tell yet how strong it will be. Leather products tend to fall apart on me, so hopefully this will be an exception. It is exactly what I wanted in dimensions and design. I was looking for a way to tidy up my front pocket and carry a pen when I don't have a shirt pocket. This should serve nicely.

For reference, the knife pocket will hold a medium one or two layer SAK, for example Pocket Pal or Tinker, or the smallest size LM Juice. However, even when the tool fits into the knife pocket, the thicker ones tend to make the card pocket behind it a tight fit. I will use it for either my SAK/Juice or my DMT Mini-Sharp.

I haven't decided yet what to put in the zippered pouch. I may move my small medical supplies into there or my coins, both of which I keep in my Eagle Creek wallet in the rear pants pocket. Plenty of options.

I'd like to have one but was wondering how small a knife would fit snugly. In other words I don't want the knife to be loose in the pouch. Any thoughts?

The few pics that exist on BFC show it with a DDR EDC or a Mayo TNT. I'd say a Camillus EDC would fit fine (to give a production knife example). My REKAT Savant was a tight fit after removing the clip, but the leather stretched and fits it fine now.

Is there a link to this item on BladeArt? I can't seem to find it...

Nope, no link. You have to call them and ask for it.

A Leatherman Micra is held in securely, but something this short is hard to fish out without a fob or lanyard. A Sebertech Sebertool or a Classic-size SAK would be a little too loose in mine.

Hey guys!
Thanks for the kind words! It was really designed to hold a medium size folder with about a 3" blade in the large pocket. Of course there are exceptions to that rule but it was made to hold one as wide as the Camillus EDC or the custom version. The small pocket was made primarily for a Fisher space pen and will hold the bullet or the telescoping variety. The small pocket is also wide enough to hold the V'nox executive size knife. Yes, a micra will fit too but is too short to fish out easily.
Hope that helps!

BTW, there is a larger version designed to hold a 3.5" folder but, of course there will be exceptions to that too. Unfortunately, I have yet to determine a way to make these universal!;) :p ;)

Hey Jason,
I ordered one today and was told that you are working on the larger one,,I'd like to have one of those to. Any idea on time and cost?

Phillip

Hopefully ... .
1) Soon
2) Similar

I REALLY wish I could be more specific but I am in a new culture and no one is in a "big hurry" here. The prototypes take a couple of weeks to get done and approved. I hope within the next month. I will post a pic as soon as they are done!
