Anyone have any hands on experience with Jeff's knives, especially the trapdoor autos?
Thanks.

No feedback on his autos. I have one of his manuals, it was the first custom knife I ever bought and one of the least expensive. Nevertheless, it remains one of my faves, gorgeous and very well-done.

Rick, I do not own any of the trapdoor autos but I have handled quite a few of them. They have quite a bit of weight to them, they have a very solid feel. I can also say that these are the most unique autos I have probably seen. At the Blade show I went back to his table several times. These knives are flawess, and they have very attractive lines. The trapdoor button feature is definitely the icing on the cake! The button has contours and patterns that match perfectly with the handle and when you first pick one up you have to look for the button. I can honestly say that if I had $1400 to spend at the Blade show I would have bought one of his knives.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It sounds like these knives are as well made as they are beautifully designed. Perhaps I should jump on it (Yikes! Uh, figuratively speaking that is

). I've always liked the looks of Jeff's patterns, but I've never handled one. Maybe it's about time.

Mr Harkins autos are one of the best around.Very well made and the trap door is one of the things that make his knives unique.Hefty and strong spring is another reason to buy one.Good attention to detail.

Thanks again for the feedback everyone. I just received a Harkins trapdoor release auto and it's quite a knife! The blade is Devin Thomas high-contrast spyrograph damascus. The handle is steel with polished bevels and gold plated steel screws, back spacer, and kick spring. This knife is a real handful; it weighs nearly ½ pound. The trapdoor is so well executed that you almost can't see it. I'm quite impressed.
