In Joe's Sharpening FAQ he mentions, "One Spyderco Tri-angle sharpmaker model also has diamond sleeves that fit over the sticks and function as a coarser hone." I'd like to buy the diamond sleeves and haven't been able to find them. Does anyone know where they are sold?

Thanks,

Diamond sleeves are not currently available. The last I knew Spyderco was trying to get them back into production, but were having some technical difficulties. They are coming, we just don't know when.

If you have a flat thin diamond stone and a sharpmaker, try leaning the diamond stone against the ceramic stone and working it that way. It isn't ideal, but it works.

I tend to lay my 6"x2" DMT diamond hone against the spyderco stone. And I don't fool around anymore, I often start with the x-coarse, which will take off a lot of metal incredibly fast.

Hmmm... I was thinking of getting a DMT stone for that very purpose. I'm glad to hear that that method works. Rebeveling a knife with the sharpmaker can be an exhausting exercise.... Where are those diamond sleeves again?
