Just Chillin In The Woods Out Back

Took a few minutes to chill out in the backyard with Alayna after work today. I started a fire using the Bushfinger and a firesteel, and then let her roast a couple of hot dogs.

The spine of this knife really throws some good sparks from this rod so one spark and poof. Didn't take the dry twigs long at all to catch.

Alayna likes to help feed the fire, and she really likes roasting hod dogs.

Building fires and cooking are thirsty work

Mist ole' buddy, you have shown a very important life lesson . . . . You do not need a gazillion dollars of camping equipment or to drive hundreds of miles to pass on the wonders of the outdoors to our next generation. Something so simple as a fire, sticks, & the "dogs" can spark a desire that can last a life time. Good on you for taking the time to do so.
(Glad it was only hot dogs this time too . . . ).

Thanks man, your sure got that right. I can't believe my oldest is about to be an adult! Time goes by so fast, you have to enjoy it every chance you get.
