...and I'm not sure what it is. What do you all think? Looks like a chef's knife to me. :D
Anyway, some things I do know about it:

Steel: My first W's pattern, with 1084 and 15n20

Bolster: Aluminum Bronze

Handle: Desert ironwood

Thanks for looking!

phillip...i really like this knife....the pattern looks really cool....i think i personally would like it more if the damascus was more polished.....i don't like the look of the dark etch on knives.....other than that it is really cool.....i am biased because i collect alot of kitchen cutlery though.....can't wait to see more.....ryan

Looks like a kitchen knife to me. Fantastic steel, and beautiful wood. The fit & finish looks to be excellent.

Oh, I don't know. I'm a kitchen knife aficionado, and I like the dark etch. Nice knife with clean lines. The handle is beautiful!! Looks to be fit well. I could see my hnad wrapped around this bad boy. Very Nice.

it's like a hybrid of bowie and kitchen knife...a chef's bowie maybe. whatever it is i really like the simple lines. it seems to work well. great "W" pattern.
u got more details on specs? blade length and thickness...???

Thanks, guys for the compliments! I really like this one. In fact, I'm going to keep it. :D I've been wanting to make myself a kitchen knife, and I think this one will do nicely.

Ryan, I normally like shinier damascus, but I left it pretty dark for two reasons:

One, I wanted more contrast, and two, I knew it would see a lot of use and abuse, and the blade will be somewhat more rust resistant with more oxides left on it...
Thanks for your input. :)

The blade is 8" long and about 3/16" thick at the guard, the handle is 5" long.

that is a nice looking knife. you'll have to make a knife block and make a set of knives to put in it to go along with that one.

looks like a belt knife, like those worn by frontiersmen. A nice "dressy" one tho', lol.

I like the dark etch myself.

thanks for the answer phillip....makes sense ...it looks like a good user to me....i have alot of neck knives that are damascus and all are users.....i always liked em.....ryan

That IS a beautiful knife!!! I LOVE the dark Damascus blade. Heck, I LOVE everything about that knife. Yeah, it looks like a kitchen knife to me too. A mighty FINE kitchen knife indeed.

Very nice, Phillip!!! Did you ladder the billet?

Thank you again, everyone! I've been using this one in the kitchen some, and I'm learning some things I'd change on the next one. It's good when makers use their own knives, yes? :D

Joe,
Yes, I laddered (is that a word?) it. I'd like to try something different on the rest of the billet, but I'm not sure how...

phillip...if it's not too much trouble do u have a pic from the top to see the taper in the blade......ryan

Ryan,
It's not a very good pic...
