I thought I'd post some pictures of my copystand that I'll be using to take my knife pictures from now on. I finally dug it out of my in-law's basement where it's been stored for 20+ years. I think this is going to make a drastic improvement in the close ups. I can use the timer so that there will be no "coffee" shakes going on and the pictures should be sharper.

You can move the camera in and out and adjust it up and down. Much better than a tripod because you don't have the legs getting in the way. You can also buy something similar on line for a pretty reasonable price. I just have to figure out how to add some lights for it.

The reason I posted this is that you guys that hit the fleamarkets, swapmeets and garage sales should keep an eye out for them. I think it's going to work out great and I may just buy a new fancier camera to use with it.

Brilliant. I didn't think that it was possible to be more pleased with your contributions to content on the forums. You are amazing. Thank you.

Thats cool Dave. Should work great... I'm not sure if the neckstarp on your camera will be strong enough to carry it around. JK

I need something like that because my camera will do a good job, but I have an awful hard time holding it steady

Yup,

Now to talk him into a couple of electric lights for those cloudy days.

Thank goodness you are going to improve those lousy pictures you take Dave;):p

But seriously folks.....

Do you have pics of what it looked like originally, and did you have to do any mod to allow it to attatch to the tripod mount of the camera?

Thanks Kev,

What you see is the way it came except that there is an extension for the post that the mount slides up and down on. I took it off because it's not needed for what I'm using it for. The mount for the camera is standard, they seem to have been the same size and thread for many years now, so it fits right on it. It was originally designed for copying documents or photographs in the days before anyone had ever heard of a scanner. You just put the photo or what ever on the base and adjusted the camera up or down to fill the frame. I'm going into town later and will pick up a couple of lights for it so I can use it inside and any time of the day. In fact, I may just take it off that base and mount it on a table that I have. It will be even more stable that way.

Ok, shows how much I dont know, I was thinking that it was upside down and the metal post mounted to a base and flipped over when in normal use. Thats why I was asking for pic prior to component removal, just cant picture how it would work normally:o

fritz, as I understand him, he is using it as it was intended, just his subject is different.

Dave, if your going to mount it to a table get a couple desk lites that adjust and you clamp them to the table also.
