My stock sheath didnt have any rattle, retention was very good, a little big for the size of the knife but the main problem was after a few days of use I realized it was dulling the blade. A 1/2 inch section on the belly was getting dulled out from drawing and re sheathing, only about 8-10 draws was all it took to dull out this section of the blade.
Thats when the search began, who can make me a small kydex, with good retention that will work for both pocket and neck carry, I decided to put in a order for 2 duplicate bk16 sheaths with Godspeed Tactical ( Eli ).
It took I think a little less then 2 weeks and I received them.
#1. Eli was a pleasure to deal with, cool dude.
#2. Sheaths are kick a-- !
It is a good amount smaller then the stock sheath.
Very well made with perfectly smooth edges all around and a drain hole as well.
I ordered the sheath to fit with scales, as you can see in the pics I didnt put my new scales on yet and it worked fine with the paracord wrap also.
The knife does not click in and out of the sheath like most kydex sheaths but the retention is 100% rock solid, some might prefer it without the click for stealth reasons ( hunters, ninjas, commandos ....)
I did my 5 mile run this morning with it on my neck and no issues at all, you can hold the sheath and try to swing the blade out and it will not come out.
Obv being its kydex my main problem of the blade dulling is no longer an issue.
The sheath has a thumb ramp which is used to deploy the knife if being worn on your neck, this way your not yanking it out of the sheath causing the necklace to open instead.
As far as the necklace, I chose the option of paracord with a break away clip that breaks at approx 25 lbs ( per Eli's estimation ) but I think it feels like it breaks a little bit lighter then that, again I ran 5 miles with it on my neck and no issues at all. The clip isnt opening on its own but I think I would go a little stronger on the clip, I think a stronger clip can be used that breaks with a little more tension and still serve the purpose of not being able to be strangled by your own cord, this is a new necklace and clip design Eli is working on and wanted my feedback after I use it for a while, I like it a lot better then the normal beaded chain.
Eli gutted the paracord that he used for the necklace and I actually find the gutted paracord to be a lot more comfortable on your neck then full paracord.
In all I am 100% happy with the sheaths and will be ordering several more from Eli for some of my other beckers, 16, 2, 7, 9.
I attached a couple crappy i phone pics of the sheath and also a pic of the 14 being used to cut my lunch yesterday, restaurant forgot to give me any plastic knives with my order, not a problem as I was prepared!!!
