Very cool light. This would make the perfect camp light, outdoors light. Very tough and waterproof; longlasting batteries.

The beam quality is superb, also. Between the E2 and this new marvel, these are the only two lights one would need. They take the same battery, which is a plus. What a tandem!

I know how you feel, I would still want a bigger light than a E2 though, somehting with more long range. Which is why when i go camping i Take my Innova X5 and my SF M2. Between them im pretty much set. Im thinking of getting a M3T though.

Which X5 did you get? Original or the tactical version? I've got both, though I carry the tactical version more. For EDC lights, the X5T and a SF E2e make an unbeatable combination.

In your opinion do you think the inova could be used as an improvised kubaton or impact weapon?

Yes, I do train with it sometimes using it for a fistweight/kubaton. But i cant see myself using it in a fight unless its in my hand at the start, if it wasnt in my hand then i would reach for my ASP before the X5.

I just picked up an X5T with the cobalt blue light. I was hooked on white light, but I find I always use my E2 for that. I even stopped using my original X5 white.

But this X5T is beautiful. Very handy with the tail cap permanent on, very smooth, and the push button momentary on. It is compact and lightweight and mine came with a nice holster, too.

What I like about the blue light is, it's not as obtrusive in the dark, it doesn't glare off my wristwatch when I check the time or off the sidewalk when I check for obstacles. It doesn't blind drivers coming toward me if I flick it up a little too high.

Also, what's fun is, it has a slight ultraviolet component, and any dayglow colors really light up, like my orange Fox 40 whistle! It also really lights up road stripes and fences along the sidewalk. But it doesn't light up rabbit's eyes at night. (They light up orange in the E2's white light.)

The Streamlight Stylus has a rotating tailcap and a momentary button, too. It is a single LED penlight.

Esav,

You're right about the Streamlight Stylus. I forgot about that LED flashlight. The Stylus holds two or three AAAA batteries depending on the model. The Inova X5 Tactical takes two 123A Lithium batteries.

Now this is too strange...I carry the same combo in my truck! Same batteries so I carry a SF spares carrier. I usually use the X5 (thanks dkochan!) for most lighting chores. I was also liking the M3...ordered it Thurs from SOE along with a couple of pouches. Probably will get the "T" upgrade for it at some point. SureFire is supposed to be releasing some LED bezels for the M2 and M3 soon, that will be a nice addition.
Stay Safe,

Im not surprised! They are both awesome lights, I just love how the X5 will run for hours on batteries that the M2 spits out.

I have the original. Until your post, I never even heard of the tactical model. Interesting unit.

Yeah, this thing is no way near as bright as the E2. When you are used to the E2, all other palm-sized lights seem puny. That's when you have to fully appreciate the advantages of the X-5-- chiefly, the burn time. You can leave this thing on, without worrying about draining it. To me, the X-5 is the epitome of a "personal light."

Yup, I have an E2 and one of the original White X5's. I'm planning to pick some of the X5 tactical models as well--I just wish that they had added a clip to the new X5.
