Just got it back today. I did the filework on the blade and had Bob Hawley of Reno, NV do the engraving. I'm pleased with the results.

:)

I had him engrave it for tip down carry to ride lower, help prevent loss, and tuck the engraving back in the pocket to keep scratching to a minimum.

I always wanted to get a Delica engraved and now, with the new VG-10 blade, I finally did it.

Very nice... you happen to have his contact info and if you dont mind what the cost was for the engraving ? Been thinking of having something like this done.

Nice work on the filework as well !

I honestly can't imagine actually carrying a work of art like that clipped to my pocket... but I bet the Delica wouldn't have it any other way. That is a beauty.

Looks like a great knife to use a gentleman's knife for those black tie affairs! Traditional knives that are usually gentleman's knives just don't always do it for me and this looks like a perfect solution. Beautiful.

I've been hankering to do some filework but haven't started 'cause everything I've read says it has to done before hardening.
What did you use on a hardened blade?
Thanks,
Greg

Wow that came out real nice both the filework & of course the engraving. I believe that outfit puts some of their Spyderco engraved knives on the bay once in a while. They do great work. The plain pocket clip looks almost out of place now compared to what they do to the clips. Good job!

Thanks Salamander for linking my old post. That's how the blade is done.
The files are 4 bucks at Harbor Freight. Check the surfaces and pick the set with the smoothest finish. They run all over the place but you can find a good set usually.

And Georgemaggos, we did discuss the clip. Although I really like the engraved clips he does, he told me they were actually silver and not as strong as the stainless stock clip. I just decided that I would go for the strength. But I do agree that the engraved silver one would have looked more snazzy.

Right now I am "carrying" it. HAH! I have it in my pocket in a Benchmade drawstring BAG! :D

I'll gradually work up the gonads to just clip it on and strut around.

heh heh

I also just had the pleasure of having Bob Hawley hand engrave a Byrd Cara Cara for me. His work is impecable, no laser engraving here, all hand engraved from a true old school craftsman. He's one on the nicest guy's you'll deal with, he emails and also calls to ensure you get exactly what you want. He took a $20.00 knife and created a knife of over a $100.00 in value. Will definately work with Bob in the future and certainly suggest any and all to give Bob a call.

WOW! That looks so cool! I might have to get one and send it out just for that.

That is beautiful!!!! And yes, thanks to Salamander for linking your old thread.... I need it and have been thinking the last couple of days how in the world I'd ever search and find it!

Your most utilitarian improvement was, of course, the switch to tip-down carry!

I am going to send a couple to him, now that I have seen yours ! A knife to be very proud of in more ways than one !! I have a couple of S&W - SS with engraving - but never thought about a knife that much until I saw the work on yours. Very nice.

:thumbup:Wow - I would be so torn whether to put that in a frame or carry it around and show it off. Both the engraving and filework are amazing.

Gorgeous. Really Gorgeous.

Thanks for sharing that!
