Just my first knife since the first week of January

That's a beauty alright G, but I know it's not the first 701 you have had. Remember this one? It's still one of my favorites for EDC.

And this is my favorite 701 and my primary knife I've been carrying for the last several months (sometimes I throw in a 110 on the belt or something bigger clipped in the back pocket).

I couldn't be more happy, I'm glad it went to a great home, I needed to clean out some of the endless amounts of knives to make room for more 300s, and these didn't fit in the direction of my collection( that rhymes) congrats and enjoy...

None of these 701's have the shield? Are they handle remakes? What is the black handle material from Plumber's 701? Thanks, DM

No remakes thats just the way they came... the shield was dropped in the 2000 catalog.

The stag handled one is a factory knife, but the black handled one was done by Flatlander using Buffalo horn and given to me as a gift.

When this knife was available at BP I really liked it but dithered around and let it sell out before I pulled the trigger. I was in the middle of a premium steel fixation.
So Mike offered this and I'm happy to have it. This knife is an excellent take on the Riverboat Gambler Bowies of the Antebellum South. Being from Natchez MS, I have a appreciation of that period of history.

So, it seems my knife fasting is over.

This photo shows a comparison to a 124.

Knice nife g, glad to see you adding again. I'm not a huge slippie guy, but I do like the 7 series.
