Been a little slow here in forum Koster, so I thought I would post up this pic:

That's a Koster hanging on a Kifaru Scout. Thought you would appreciate that Dan as I noticed you contributed to the recent Kifaru thread. Doesn't get any better than that for me. 2 pieces of kit that are of the highest quality and built to last. Don't know if it is because I appreciate QUALITY more now, or because I can actually afford it for the first time in my life, but Kifaru and Koster make me :D. These are with me for the long haul. Thanks Dan.

(man, I need to lose some weight. blarghh.)

don't think of it as a belly, think of it as a counterweight for the backpack. just makes you more stable on steep trails.

Hopefully the packs suspension system could compensate for any imbalance. Nice looking pack! About how much weight can it handle comfortably?

Hey guys, a lot of that is shirt hanging over, not gut...:p

Haven't loaded it down fully yet, but I would say somewhere in the range or 20-25 lbs. ought to be totally doable, probably more. Kifaru is big on modularization, so there are plenty of pockets that can be added. This is my day trip and 1-2 day overnighters pack.

I will say of all the packs I have owned, and I have owned a few, this has the most comfortable hip-belt I have ever had. And the power pull on the belt is pure genius. If you look around the gut you'll see how the strap you pull to cinch down the hip-belt feeds back through a buckle so you actually pull inwards to cinch up the belt. Simple but works better than you can believe.

That hipbelt configuration is fairly common. My Osprey packs use it. As do many Gregory's. I really do love the modular concept. Especially on that hipbelt, would it fit a Tec-Lok or a Survival Sheath?

I bet it could hold a bunch of weight, probably close to 30ish. My Osprey Stratos 40 (2300 cu in.) can hold 45 pounds of gear comfortably.

Cool, hadn't seen that hipbelt config before. I have owned a gregory, and it didn't have it, but that was probably 10 years ago. My newer mountainsmith doesn't have it either.

The padded part of the belt has PALS on it, so I don't think a teklok would fit. The webbing part is 2", so a large teklok might go.

I think you are right on the weight, 30 lb shouldn't be a big issue, mostly because of the beefy hipbelt. The shoulder straps do take some weight, but they are more there for stabilization. This is essentially a really big lumbar pack.

swet pack!!!!

I do like Kifaru gear...

great setup too...
