Did anybody see Mythbusters this week? It was the episode where they were trying to fill a raft with helium, and eventually they made a huge "raft" out of plastic tubing. When they went to deflate their creation Kari, the cute redhead :D , pulled out a Spyderco to puncture the tubes. It looked pretty big and I don't think it was an Endura. I thought it might be a Chinook or possibly a Manix but really couldn't tell.

I've seen a few Spydercos on Mythbusters before. Kari definitely knew how to get out and open nice and fast like a Spyderco regular.
 
I saw it last night and couldent tell either. I thought it might be a DP D'Allera, but I didnt get a good enough look.
 
I saw it and I was pausing it and rewinding it to get a better look with my DVR recorder but I couldn't make it out either. It looked large but maybe she has a small hand. It was a drop point blade with a black handle and it was hollow ground as well. It had a stubby blade like a Bob Terzuola but I doubt she had one of these. I bet it was a drop point D'Allera. Any other guesses?
 
LOL, I was watching it with my wife and saw with the knife and said "Spyderco!" and my wife just sighed. Really though it was not a good view or long enough to tell, but it did look like a hole in a Spyderco shaped blade.
 
D'Allera sounds like a good guess. It did look large, but she probably does have fairly small hands. There's a guy at my church that would make an Endura look like a Delica if you couldn't tell how huge he was.

kgriggs, I was hoping that someone had recorded it and could pause to check closer. I'm glad to know that you did and still couldn't tell. Now I don't feel so bad that I couldn't ID it. My pride was hurt a little bit.;)
 
All I managed to see was the Spyderhole. I thought maybe it looked like a Spur or Stretch.

To be honest, I'm usually looking at other parts of her than her hands.:o
 
Kari is a hottie. Course I love redheads. Wife is blonde, though I have been trying to get her to dye her hair.

Maybe someone from Spyderco needs to call Mythbusters and see what knives they are using. Then if they are not Spyderco's they can send some out to them for official use.
 
There is a forum on the mythbusters site. Why don't you ask her there? I bet she would be happy to tell you.

Jamie & Adam respond to messages there so I would think the other cast members do also. So there is probably a chance she could answer you personally there. If not, I'm sure someone in that forum probably could.

I also only caught a glimpse of it and only had time to think that it might be a Spyderco. Thats one of the very few shows I watch anymore on a regular basis.
 
I didn't see the episode, but I did dig his up real quick on a google search. it was in some info on he Discovery Channel site.

"An erratic fencer and knife thrower, Kari has been chased by machine-gun-toting Egyptian police for painting a mural in Dahab, has trekked in the Himalayas, and has scuba-dived in most of the world oceans."
 
Adam had a knife in the same scene but for some reason I didn't as much attention to him as to the girl with the large boobs in the tight t-shirt. I am not sure why.:D
 
She is a hottie alright, and she has a strange streak in her as well. The welder lady isn't bad either, too many tattoos, but nobody's perfect.

I didn't see the episode, but from the above picture "ATR" was my thought as well.

Reasons being the pronounced upward curve on the spine of the blade, and the squarish butt (with slight tail) to the handle.
 
I see the ATR blade profile too. It looks to be a fairly large knife....but it's hard to tell in a girl's hand. The only thing non atrish is that the handle looks black, like frn/g10 black.

Yes there is. My guess is an ATR as well.
 
Dang, I missed that episode. She is no doubt a hottie, but she is smart AND can build stuff by hand! Thats my kind of woman
