Keep an eye on this one:

On bladeauction.com, good. This one will actually go to close and we'll get our first indication of the current market value for a 49-01.

I'm gonna guess $800.

Chuck - you're probably right-on. My SPL will go to my heirs - good lord willin'n'the creek don't rise !! :)

Interesting...I guess I'm always surprised to see someone throw one up for auction so fast.., but seeing as Josh (PVKnife) is the current leader.., I'm gonna say $845 out the door :p

"Hunters seek what they [WANT].., Seekers hunt what they [NEED]"

I'm going with that it won't even reach reserve (which I think is at $700~$750). BM hasn't finished with all the 49-01's yet, and it took them a while to sell off the 100 units.

I don't think so, with only three bids the highest was $565 and it still lists reserve not met, so...

Interesting, the SPL seems like it could be the big winner of the bm kris's.

Only two serious bids. Obviously only a collector is going to spend this kind of $ for this item. A collector knows what the MSRP is. Most have read of the problems. I would expect that most would wait for the problems to be corrected before shelling out this kind of $. IMHO

I emailed the seller, he had reserve listed at $600. MSRP, so he wasn't in it for any huge profit. Dealer cost on the 49-01's is in the high $400's. Market is just not ready for the 49-01's. But now as word gets out that the run is sold out, things may change. Either that or people are waiting for the next series of 49's and waiting for one that appeals to them.

Tony, Tony, Tony...

Generally, sellers share that information in confidence and it's bad form to share it, especially in a major public forum, before the auction closes.

Chuck, the auction did close. 2 days now.

Two minutes, that's almost a record, Tony.

Here's what the auction posting says:

Started 12/04/01 12:48AM EDT
Ends 12/11/01 12:53AM EDT

Apparently, the seller closed it early.

Nope. Was faster last night. You're right though, should have taken more time to check the actual length of time the auction was already closed by. So, did I still violate some sacred trust?

Nope. Auction ran it's course. Ask any of the other people tracking this auction, since you seem to have an issue with what I say.
