Lookin' forward to getting my copy soon (I hope).

I wish I'd jumped on the 'KI' wagon a long time ago. Definitely my favorite writing. Something to look forward to every month, unlike some of the others I used to get.

thx - cpr

Glad you guys liked it. A big thanks to Ken for taking the time to talk to me and for providing the photos for the story, and of course thanks to Charlie and Elliott as well.

I hope the story is a microcosm of the good things that happen here on the Traditional sub forum of BF.

Always good to see folks get the recognition they deserve...
There are certainly a few makers here in Traditional that deserve some good press. All of us here know what level of work is being done by these makers.
Wouldn't be fair to not share them with the "outsiders" :D

But then again, once the outsiders get wind of this, the waiting list will become even longer

Cool,WTG Mike & Ken.I'll be looking for it.

i've received this pub. since the 70s. only one that has good stories opn old knifes & history of cut. industry. congrats.

Awesome! Great author great maker. Can not wait until Robin makes the trip to my mailbox, she is out of town this week so I guess I have to wait until Sunday.

My neighbor brought mine in last night. Really a great article Mike. I feel your thoughts were spot on regarding Ken's work and I think Ken's goals are going to come to fruition much sooner than he thinks.

My copy is always delivered later rather than sooner, unfortunately..

But this is one I will be very pleased to receive even more than usual!

Look forward to it.

Well, it finally arrived.

Great job, Mike! (Though you should have been a bit more selective on your sources. (Other than Charlie, of course. ;):p)

Congratulations, Ken. I'm sure this is a very proud moment for you. Deservedly so.

I have been holding off posting in this thread as I have not got my copy yet and have only read the first page, scanned and sent to me. However I wanted to say what a pleasure it was being interviewed by Mike. Asked some great questions.

I also wanted to thank Kerry and everyone that has taken the time to leave comments. While great to get this kind of recognition I feel most proud and privileged to develop the kind of friendships that I have here and be able to , in my small way, keep alive the tradition and craftsmanship that cutlers of yesteryear's exhibited.

Ken

Oh man, this is bad news. I still don't have my first Erickson, and now the prices are sure to jump! :D

Congrats Ken, you definitely deserve it. And I'll have to grab a copy ASAP!

the precision of ken's work is certainly laudable .as a former gunsmith knives are relatively easy for a master machinest, gunsmithing requires the most demanding attention to tolerances.

While Ken's gunsmith/machinist skills help him make competently functioning knives, it is his understanding and vision of the traditional forms, that make his knives so outstanding. There is as much art as there is mechanical competence involved here.
Very few custom makers today have that vision.

Well said Charlie.
