Kershaw 1555Ti Hinderer

Yeah, I handled one of these at SHOT, and they're really nice. Hopefully this one will do well -- very good chance since it combines a Hinderer design and Kershaw quality -- and they'll also release a larger version of it (blade around 3.5") at a $70ish MSRP price point.

Love the looks of the knife...just curious about the naming convention Kershaw uses. This has 1555TI which would lead me to believe it has a titanium frame. I know they did that because of the coating, but the Leek 1660TGRYST also has the same coating so I wonder why the Cryo isn't 1555GRY or just plain 1555. In the end, it doesn't matter at all but I've noticed a lot of weird things with the model #'s like that.

Does anyone know when we will see it in stores? I hope it is in the next few months.

Not solid Ti, some sort of Ti coating on the handle.

Here is what I got today from my closest dealer:
Thank you for your interest in the KERSHAW Model 1555TI Cryo. Unfortunately, this knife is not currently in stock, but is on backorder (pre-production) from the manufacturer and is scheduled to begin shipping in approximately 3-6 months. We do accept pre-orders which would assure that you would receive this knife as soon as it is available.

Per your order, if you opt to be placed on backorder (pre-order) status, you will be notified when the backordered item arrives. At that time, we will process your credit card and send order confirmation of shipment. We will also keep you informed if there are any changes in the timetable stated above.

Thank you again for your business, consideration, understanding, and patience. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. Please let me know if I may be of further assistance.

In 3-6 months I would think we could get a few on E-Bay by then from Canadian or European knife sellers as they supposedly get dibs first.

SEMPER-FI TIL I DIE

Thanks for the update -- at least we know we don't have to watch for the Cryo for awhile.

It says it isn't Sandvik 14C28N. It looks like They've used the Chinese 8Cr13MoV. I'm not a big fan of that steel. If I could find it in the Sandvik, this will definitely be in my future.

Edit:
It's definitely 8Cr13MoV and it looks a little small for my preference. Other than that, I like the new, "Low Rider" pocket clip and the Hinderer Lockbar Stabilizer. If it were just made of a better steel, and a little bigger...
