Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has that sort of info. SPecifically I am interested in CPM 440V performance, I've seen different reports on Spyderco 440V blades, quite a few complaints about it's edge holding ability.
So, 1) Could someone share his/her impressions about BOA edge holding abilities;
2) Even more interesting if someone could compare 440V from Kershaw & Spyderco.

Sergiusz - I think you have both blades(guessing by your messages

, may be you could contribute?

Yes, I really have KERSHAW Boa and some SPYDERCOs in CPM 440V. Hmmm, the most suitable comparison would be with Starmate because of similar grind and edge geometry, right? But my Starmate has # 702, this means it is from first production thousand which has blades hardened to 59-61 HRC. Sal reported here that they lowered hardness to 56-57 HRC in regular production considering this level as optimal for this steel. The same hardness have both Boa and Military blades, but this comparison could be unsuitable due to pretty different blade geometry which influences edge hold not less than steel properties. Some time ago we have discussed this matter here.

So I would like if someone who has both regular production Starmate and Boa would make some comparison.

However this is an excellent idea - to compare how performs the same steel form different manufacturers. This comparison if properly done could discover how each manufacturer uses steel potential for their products.

Yap, that was(is) very interesting. It'd be an interesting sequel to your cutout experiment.
Considering how significantly the heat treat affects edge holding ability, would be nice to know what manufacturers do... One good example would've been been SOG with their 440A.
Does anyone have both blades around? Donno about the starmate, but BOA has quite thin edge, shuold make a aggressive cutter. I'll try to do some testing this weekend, but the comparison is much more interesting.
Spyderco folks, come on

Sound of.
