Attention Kershaw fans in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut:

This Saturday, from 1PM-5PM, the Bear's Den Flyfishing Shop in Taunton, MA will have its first KERSHAW DAY. Scott has just become an official KERSHAW dealer, and wanted to do something special to get the word out.
So, he ordered a bunch of knives and asked me to stop by!

So I will be there tying flies and talking knives Saturday afternoon.

If you like fishing and knives, this is the place to be. Scott and Sarah have a great store and are good people.

You can learn more at www.bearsden.com

See you there!

That sounds great Mr Martin. I hope they do well.

Thank you for being a member of the Kershaw family.

Thanks for dropping in Mr Martin. I hope yall have a blast.

Mike, that sig is just plain wrooooong!! Funny but wrong. ;)
:D

Damn! For a second I thought you guys were going to be at the Bear's Lair, a bar dedicated to the Cal Berkeley football team. I could've made it to that one!!:o

Have fun!!

Jon

Sweet, Taunton is the next town over from mine. Now I've got something to do on Saturday. I don't know anything about fishing or tying flies, but I'll just dazzle everyone with my knife knowledge instead. :D

Man...RJ, fly tying, knives, cold beer and fresh raw oysters...it don't get much better than that!

Enjoy it guys!

Definitely:thumbup:

Brad, we are huge oyster lovers in my house. My wife and I go out to Tomales Bay here in NorCal and get 'em right from the farm. My six year old daughter Kaylee will plow through about 15 or 16 raw ones in a sitting!! Her 3 year old sister, not so much, but we're workin' on her!!

Cheers,
Jon

WHOA, Juji,
You're telling me that after the recent Onion/Mayo smackdown, you're going to show up at an RJ Martin/Kershaw event????? Guts, man. You've definitely got guts:D

Have fun!!

Jon

No guts, no glory...or something like that. ;)

Leaving for the shop in a few minutes, will give a report later on. I'll bring my camera and if it's cool with RJ and the shop owner to take a few pics I'll add those too.

Got back a little while ago from the Bear's Den. It's a nice little shop. RJ was tying some flies and we chatted for a while about knives, production and custom. I brought my ENER-G II to show him for some comparison flipping. I also talked with the shop owner Scott, very nice guy. Took a few pics so here you go.

>The man himself

>Promotional flyer

>Grooves and Tanto Grooves for sale. I'd never handled a tanto version so it was good to check one out. The knife you see towards the upper left corner is a Zing, one of RJ's new 3" flippers. They are quick. Very lightweight and low profile in the pocket. If you like flippin' (and I know you do :D) you need to check one out.

>I picked up a t-shirt with the shop's logo, I thought it was a pretty cool design.

It was an hour well spent. Hearing RJ's opinions and insights on knives and knifemaking is great for me as a collector/user. Sometimes I think we can get so wrapped up in what we have or what we desire that we lose the forest for the trees. Talking candidly to someone who occupies another part of the industry gives another perspective that you may not otherwise see and that can only help in understanding the bigger picture.

RJ, thanks for your time and your courtesy. It was a pleasure to talk with you.

Nathan

Nathan: It was a fun afternoon and I enjoyed talking with you immensely. Thanks a bunch for posting the pictures!

Knives are a new area for Scott, and I am glad he chose to become a KERSHAW dealer. I think the Grooves I gave him and his sister Sarah (she immediately pocketed the Rainbow Groove and carries it daily!) a while back got him hooked on the idea. That, and the MADE IN USA QUALITY that KERSHAW offers.

Anyway, we will be doing this periodically and as the word spreads I'm sure "KERSHAW DAY" will grow and grow.

And, having a few hours to spend at the vise was a lot of fun. I developed a new mackerel pattern that I plan to feed to some big Stripers this Spring.

Juji,
Glad you had a good time at the event. Wish I could've been there to hang out for a while!!

RJ,
Sounds like the Kershaw day will make a great ongoing event, glad you enjoyed it! Makes me wish I didn't live so far away!! Keep up the great designing. I can't wait to see the next Kershaw/RJ Martin release:thumbup:

Cheers,
Jon

Well, considering that it's printed in the latest issue of Blade I just got today (page 25), I guess it's okay to relate that RJ told me Kershaw is doing a production version of the Zing. Should be sweet.
