Greetings boys and ghouls! I'm new to the forum here. I'm contemplating a new purchase. Here's what I'm considering:

Emerson Mini CQC7 with the Wave feature $130
Kershaw Blur-Red w/black inserts $60
Emerson Hard Wear Endeavor $50

I'm gonna use this knife for general carry purposes. I've always wanted an Emerson but it might me overkill for what I'd use it for pluse it's a few more bucks than the others.

any suggestions?
Thanks!

Welcome to Bladeforums! :)

I don't think the Emerson price is really justified, especially if you're just starting out, and might want to try a few different knives before you get totally hooked on the more expensive toys :D

The Emerson Hard Wear line is functionally and materially equivalent to Spyderco, but Spyderco is a far better value -- for example, take a look at the Endura or Delica or Native.

Kershaw is a great company, too. Their Ken Onion models, especially the assisted openers, have a lot of satisfied customers. Like Spyderco, they send a knife that's very sharp!

(You can go to One Stop Knife Shop, the sponsor of these forums, to find almost any manufacturer.)

thanks for the help man. I've got a Kershaw Ken Onion chive.....I think it's a chive. I really like the assisted opening feature....really slick! :D
Plus the red handle really stands out. Now I've gotta throw in another candidate....the Benchmade mini griptillian. ACK!! too many choices!! :D

I liked the look of the Griptilian since it came out. I just got one, although I've had other axis lock knives before. Great knife. The mini is just as good, and even more convenient for some purposes -- if your hand is small, if you want to be less obtrusive with a knife, if you want some of those candy colors! :)

Any of the axis knives are hard workers.

The choices are just beginning. Pick any one of the major companies -- Camillus, Kershaw, Spyderco, Benchmade -- and you'd be hard put to decide which of just their knives to start on.

from my personal experience, the griptilian is a great knife for the money. As for the blur, I've never had any experience with it but I have handled/owned/own several kershaws onions and they have all been great for the money. As for emerson I can't really say the same..
