Kershaw's newest Chive variation - Rainbow Chive! The iridescent colors are actually a coating. And no two Rainbow Chives are alike. The scan doesn't do the knife justice - it really is an eye catching piece.

It's the best knife in Kershaw's lineup, I'm glad to see them playing it for all it's worth :) Very nice, I'll have to add one to my black chive.

That's a great looking finish on the blade. Do you know what is used for the coating to get it to be iridescent?

Keith - believe it or not, the coating is actually boron carbide!

one2gofst - I'll get it and post it later.

I want one! Any idea when they will be available? I'm ready to put in an order right now. :)

Wow! I thought the black Chive looked great and now they've come up with something that looks even better. I love it, this is great!

Saw this at the SHOT show--it was hard for Ken to hold on to it because everyone wanted to take it home. The colors change depending on lighting, that plus the iridescence will be tough to capture in a picture.

I have the Shiny Black Chive and I have noticed that in the bright sunlight on the round edges of the handle slabs I can see the irredecent colors (bluish and greenish). Have any of you noticed this also?

Now, if that were the actual size, I'd be sold. Just can't get used to the smallness of the Chive.

Unfortunately, I have been informed that the Rainbow Chive's release has been postponed. Originally slated to debut at the upcoming Blade Show, Kershaw has scratched that from their plans. Turns out that this forms of boron carbide coating isn't as durable as they once thought, and they are now working with BodyCote to resolve this problem.

I will post again at a later point in time when the decision is made to either axe this project or if they iron things out and decide to release this knife at a later date.

As painful as the wait can be... ...I respect knife companies that would rather make the product right than make it on schedule.

I still want one of these, but I will wait...if not patiently. :)
