I watched part of a news-tainment show this evening, even though I suspect they rot one's brain.
I was about a crime novelist that spent a few million bucks and claims to have "solved" the "Jack the Ripper" crimes that occurred in London. They presented a bunch of circumstantial evidence that is said to implicate an impressionist artist of some repute, and accused him of committing many additional murders. Of course there was plenty of lurid descriptions of the horrendous injuries and mutilations the victims suffered.
What does this have to do with khukuries??
Well, every few minutes a brief bit of footage appeared that showed the novelist waving around what looked like a horn-handled BAS with brass furniture. There was even a shot of her dramatically extracting the little karda from an otherwise empty scabbard. It was a khuk shot in a trailer that lured me into watching the bilge in the first place. As far as I can tell, khuks were never mentioned, and there was no discussion of the murder weapon(s), though I must confess I didn't give the show my full attention. Thankfully, any talk of khuks must have been edited out of the broadcast.
If someone calls your khuk a "Jack the Ripper knife" now you'll know where it came from.
