Kindling

[Condition Yellow]

We use a wood burning stove as our only heat source, so I need a durable and effective hatchet for splitting a lot of kindling. Choking up on my axe works, but I'd prefer something lighter and more comfortable to use with one hand. Suggestions? Wetterlings, Snow & Neely, Estwing, ect,? What do you use?

For your use, a dedicated splitter makes more sense than a hatchet IMO:

I use the S&N Hudson Bay for kindling and general purpose and am very impressed with it. The Penobscot looks about perfect for your chore. Same head as the HB.

Snow & Nealley's "Split n’ Kindling Gift Set" provides two really nice tools for working with small wood - the 18" Penobscot Bay axe (same head as the longer Hudson Bay axe), and their mini maul.
