I'm very interested in getting a Lambert and really like the looks of the Sniper, does anyone have one and want to share their opinion or photos? Thanks.

Hi!

Welcome to the Customs subforum.

What kind of knives do you like besides the Lambert, possibly?

4 posts in 2 years isn't very much participation here....have you been over in the sandbox, or similar?

Tell us a little about yourself, if you don't mind.

Best Regards,

Well, Codey, I can tell that you are from Vancouver Island, and that you are interested in Canadian custom knife makers, so other details aside, I'm willing to assume that you're smart and have good taste, like other Vancouver Islanders!;)

I haven't had any experience with Kirby Lambert's knives, but they look awesome, well finished, and compared with other knives of similar construction they are pretty fairly priced. Also, given the recent confounding fluctuations in the relationship between the Canadian and US dollar, any knife from any US maker that is comparable has just increased in price by 15%. It makes a lot of sense to start supporting Canadian knifemakers, and especially now that you'll take a hit financially otherwise.

There are some great Canadian knifemakers whose quality and service I have never heard called into question, (for the most part). Guys like Doucette, Marzitelli, Beshara, Hayes, Moeller and Lightfoot are a few that I know of.

Welcome to our little playground!:)

A little about myself, well I'm a Derrickhand on a drilling rig, have been on the rigs for three years and commercial fished prior to that. Aside from knifes, my interests include guns, flashlights, home audio, and fast cars.

All the knifes I have are decent productions, Kershaws, Spydercos, Boker, CRKT and I very recently got a small regular Sebenza. I EDC the Sebenza at work and so far it is performing very well. I'm looking for a custom to EDC at home, as work knives get ugly very fast due to chemical stains, etc.

My knowledge of customs is pretty much non existent, I saw a photo of Kirby Lambert's work and liked what I saw. Others that have caught my eye are Greg Lightfoot and Randy Doucette, but in all honesty I've been pretty set on a Lambert to I haven't looked around much.

Again Codey, welcome!

I have handled a few Lambert knives, and they were all smooth with excellent fit and finish, for a VERY fair price.

Kirby seems to take a lot of pride in his workmanship.....you probably can't go wrong with him, and may I recommend working with True North Knives, if Kirby is backlogged:

You will not go wrong with one of Kirby's knives, his fit and finish are top rate and he is a great guy to deal with. I bought my first custom from Kirby, it was an inferno and I still have it, a great knife, still one of my favorites. I also had a Fireball which was also a great knife. The Fireball I eventually traded because it was too big for me, but the fit and finish was top rate on that knife also. This is a picture of my Inferno.

Met Kirby at 08 Blade Show. Purchased a damascus Incinerator with ironwood scales and carbon fiber bolsters from him at the show.

It is beautifully made, fit and finish are great. You can't go wrong with one of his folders! He is also really down to earth and cool to talk knives with.

In fact, now would be a great time for US knife afficionados to start purchasing Canadian made knives! With NAFTA and a bruiser of a US dollar, there will be bargains to be had, again!

i have a really nice lambert Whar and the fit and finish is incredible. I got a good deal so it was about the same price as a plain Sebbie but a lot more interesting. Part of the reason I got the Whar is kirby is from my home province of Saskatchewan but if it had not been a great knife I would not have wanted it. It is a bit flashier than my usual taste with the timascus bolsters ,carbon fibre scales and ti frame but makes a very nice dressy folder.
The S30V is a nice satin and hollow ground sharp enough that i can shave with it.

I say definitly get one of Kirby's folders. it will keep it's value well so if you don't like it you can get your money back. True north is also a great company to deal with ,they are Canadian and have a big stock of his knives. I also like his fixed Jap style knives.

Greg Lightfoot has some good stuff especially his similar fixed blades but I like Kirby's a bit better although I am sure some of that has to do with Greg being from Alberta.

You can not go wrong with one of Kirby's knives! I have one that I LOVE.

And True North KNives is a fantastic place to buy from!! Neil (who owns TNK) is a great guy and a friend.

Turns out my wife had secretly placed an order with Kirby a couple months ago, so I'll be getting a Sniper soon enough. She even chose the options, so I'm pretty excited to see what I get. Waiting is definitely the hardest part.

awesome! I'm stoked for you:).

There were TWO Snipers going on the Exchange not long ago for very good prices...

They might still be there in fact.

EDIT: They were Inferno's and they are both gone. ; )

I'm also very interested in aquiring a Lambert sniper or fireball but dont really see any online. Does anyone know of a reputable dealer that I can contact? I have already tried TNK and they pretty much ran through their inventory.

Thanks,

ed
