Hi,
I was thinking about doing a fixed blade from Jantz or TKS. I really like the Delta Force Fighter/Commando Fighter. Has anyone done one of these? I'd really like to see one of these finished before I buy one to try. How are they?
Also, has anyone done one of their letter open blades? I was thinking that might make a cool birthday or christmas present for someone. Post a pic of that one too if ya got it.

Thanks,
Johnny B.

Oh yea...been there quite a bit. I love the 605. I plan on doing a few of them too, I was just wondering about the quality of the fixed blades that I listed, and if anyone had done them before.

I've never put together a fixed blade kit, but I've made couple folders. So far, none of the parts/kits were flawless, but none of them had serious problems either. You could do the basic minimum on putting it together, assemble the peices and sand the handles some, and still end up with a useable knife. It might just have some minor flaws on how it goes together. If your willing to tweak a little here and there, and do some extra work as it goes together, you can end up with pretty nice final product.
Fixed blades have less peices and parts going into them so your less likely to get into problems in that area. I'd say your main concern should be getting one with quality materials as they don't always use the best blade steel, heat treat etc. It could end up looking nice but being mediocre in the performance category. There are alot of new kits listed in kovals catalog this year, and several of them use better steels like ATS34 and 440C. Probably the same from TKS. Cryo treated blades would be a bonus also which seems to be pretty common among the kits at TKS.
No matter which kit you choose it should eba fun project and you'll end up with knife to be proud of.
