knife Possibilities?

Is it possible to throw knives like the Tom Brown Tracker? I mean throw and accurately stick...

It's certainly possible, but you'd likely need to modify your usual throwing method to account for the blade's wider belly... I would think this guy would otherwise have a tendency to hit point in, but drop out of the target.

A more delicate question is... why would you? It's risking an awful lot. It's an expensive knife that may not withstand repeated throws without damaging the tip or the handle.

I agree with the "why would you". We were watching a movie "the hunted" and I think he throws one in there. I told my friend that it was highly unlikely however he insisted that it is just as easy as throwing other knives.

Gotcha.

In that case, while I agree that it could be thrown, I disagree with your friend: it would not be as easy to throw as any other knife.

Unless that is to say, no knives are easy to throw! :D They all take practice and even coddling.

But some knives are harder to throw than others, and the Tracker would be one of those.

I could be wrong...*has* someone here actually thrown one?

The Tracker would be hard to throw by the blade, but should throw very well from the handle.
That's exactly because it is so heavy. Because of its weight it throws much like a hatchet or hawk and should be really easy to control as opposed to lighter knives that need more effort to throw consistently.
A famous example of such a knife is the Tru-Bal Bowie, which should have very similar flight characteristics and is a dedicated throwing knife.
I do however agree that it can quickly become very expensive if you mess one up with an errant throw.

Ookami

PS: As for the possibility of the blade falling out of the target ...well, I don't think so. It weighs in at a whopping 1 lb 12oz that should really drive the blade deep into the target even when thrown with only moderate force.
