Knifemaking courses & classes

I know there are numerous knifemaking courses spread throughout the year. One of the better known ones is the knifemaking course in Texarcana.

What about the other courses? Some are called hammer-ins. Why are they called hammer-ins?

Normally, how many participants take part in such courses? And the fees?

Anybody know how many knifemaking courses are held in a year, and in which parts of the country?

I think there is a Bladesmith school in Arkansas.( Bill Moran school?) Also at Silver Dollar City near Branson, Mo you can sign up for a week or two as an apprentice to a master smith.
