Anyone as disappointed as I was with the article on hand axes in Knives 2004? So many pictures. So many words. So little useful information. All the children are above average.

I bought knives 2003 awhile back, which quickly confirmed that I had not been missing out by not buying knife magazines.

Are you kidding?! How else would you know which model of stainless steel hatchet or $6000 museum-quality tomahawk you should use on kindling and which stainless steel-bladed knife with a factory edge of over 60 included degrees outcut the rest?

I really like the knifemags, but then, I haven't found one that isn't just an amalgamation of article/advertisements.

I know that most of these annuals are little more than ads, but do even the "articles" have to be mere "eye candy"?

The magazine people gots bills to pay. Introducing new models is risky enough, but to risk having an author say that your $475 mega knife is so good that it almost compares with a $67 Spyderco Delica is a bit much to ask.

I drop Chad Engelhardt an email.
