Anyone know what the security / policy is right now? last time i was there it wasn't long after 911 and they were checking everyone as they came through. anyone have any more up to date info? I feel naked w/ out my knives.

At Disneyland if they see them they will tell you to take them back to your car.

If it drops into your pocket, you are A-OK.

Last i remember they don't have any metal detectors, just keep it low key.

Knott's Berry farm tried to take away a knife at the gate once though =\ this was in like 2003

I was in Disney World in June of 2004 and I took my Camillus EDC with me. They still check each person individualy as you enter the park but like Steven Roos said they don't check your pockets. If you have a small knife that you feel comfortable with down in your pocket then you should be just fine. This will also work at Sea World and Universal Studios.

At least they give you that option. I've heard of several places where they simply try to "confiscate" them (translation: "change in ownership") ;)

in Disneyland, they'll take 'em if they see 'em, but otherwise you're fine. the last two times i went, i dropped my knife down into my pocket, then once past the gates, i went ahead and clipped it on like normal. no hassles the rest of the day.

Took the family to Disneyland (Anaheim) and Disney's California Adventure last month. Before entering the park, they have park employees checking bags. I had my Spydie Native loose in my right pocket, got through the baggage check, entered the gates and reclipped the clipit. Had no other problem in park other than the eight dollar churros.

One thing I did find interesting at the park was a Tom Sawyer children's costume being sold with a rubber fixed blade and sheath as an accessory. Pretty cool.

That's your cue to reach into your purse or pocket for your cell phone and call the POLICE to report a theft-in-progress. Security is basically assigned the duty to allow or disallow entry to a venue. If you have a legal knife, they can ask you to return it to your car or hotel room, but they CAN'T confiscate it from you. It is your property. That is theft and you should immediately call the authorities.

If they believe you are carrying something illegal (illegal drugs, automatic knives out of jurisdiction, firearms w/o CCW, etc.) they have the option of calling the police themselves, but they can't restrain you or take your property themselves. Some security guards have a distorted sense of self-importance, so don't be bullied when you are within your rights.
