Knives-Express... Bad Experience

I ordered several of the Spyderco kitchen knives from Knives-Express on the 10th of December. So far, I have yet to receive any of the knives, nor have I been emailed that they are on backorder.

My order confirmation for the knives indiated that:
1. my transaction/credit card had been approved
2. the knives would ship within 2-3 days
3. the knives would be shipped UPS Ground (4-5 business days)
4. I would be emailed if any item item was backordered.

So far, none of these things have come to pass. Very disappointing. Granted, my ordered is for barely over $100, but this is very poor customer service none-the-less.

Has anyone else had some experience with Knives-Express? Good or bad?

I ordered a couple of things from them on the 2nd, received them on the 9th. One of the items was broken, although it was apparant that it was broken before it was shipped. The only odd thing was that I couldn't use the same number that I ordered from to request a replacement but had to use e-mail to request it. I got a response on the 13th that they were working on it. On the 20th I still hadn't heard anything so I sent another e-mail, which was answered on the 21st noting that the item was in the mail. It arrived in perfect condition.
So the actual shopping experience was positive, the prices reasonable. The customer feedback was a little slow, but I would order from them again.

Knives Express are the first place to require a fax of my license, address and credit card in addition to my order placed with them online. The order was for a knife listed as the last remaining, so I coughed up only to have the $$$ held on my account and to be placed on back order (back order for a knife that'll prove very hard to locate). Am not real impressed so far and am 50/50 as to a. whether the knife will show up and b.whether I'll get my $$$ back without a hassle.
I hope K E will prove my worries unfounded but compared to other dealers, well...

Thanks for the advice, David. I like JM's site but haven't ordered thru him yet. So far I've had excellent service from:
- A G Russell
- Skylands
- A B C Direct
- N W Cutlery
- Knife Centre
The latest on K Express is that when I phoned them ($$$) to find out when they might expect the backorder to be filled (after several emails from me were ignored) they couldn't find my order - despite having already charged my card. They're looking into it...

This is pathetic service, but I hope you haven't told them to jam it until after they credited your account. Charging your account while losing the order (?) is absolutely inexcusable. What the hell did they charge for if they didn't have your order? This stinks something friggen' rotten.

Sorry, bad mood today after struggling with my own account/vendor "issue" this weekend.
