Hi there, i am looking for a knife for my father and was wonder what are the best fixed blades for chopping trees, hunting, and slicing meat such as deer and bear. my budget is 300 to 500 dollars. i was wanting to buy it for my father birthday next year. My vote would be for Dan's Nessmuk and Monster Nessie in a Piggyback sheath.

I was about to say it might be way over budget...then just did the math and realized it wasn't...!!! 
Scandi-ground nessmuk in micarta = $100
Monster nessmuk in matching micarta = $245
Kenny Rowe piggyback pinlock sheath = $170
Total = $515...just $15 over budget.

own_will - I saw your other thread.....I think what you're looking for is a general-purpose camp knife. There are many options available, including factory-made knives.
