Last Christmas, my wife gave my a coffee table that was set up to be used as a display for my knife collection. The idea was that I could rotate displays of some of the knives I've collected. Well, it was time to do a new display, and I thought I would do something with my Camillus collection. This one is based on the "Knives That Went To War" layout in the 1946 catalog.

Here are the relevant pages in the catalog:

I don't have everything on the page, and a couple of the knives are post-war versions, but I think it makes a nice display anyway :)

(BTW, if anyone has a WW2 spatula, bread knife, paring knife or post-exchange knife, drop me a message.)

That is amazingly awesome!!!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I love those quartermaster butcher knives
I think Gradall stumbled upon one of those recently

Do you have the "guard" for the folding machete??
I need one of those :mad:

That would be a great pic for the guy who is doing an article on Camillus

Thanks.

I have another butcher knife that is similar except that it does not have the guard at the bottom of the blade (more like the bottom of the bread knife). It's actually in better condition that the one in the display, but that one matched the picture from the catalog.

I do have the guard for the machete. When I first set up the display, I was going to include that and the sheaths for the other fixed baldes, but I decided it was too crowded and didn't have the same affinity with the catalog layout. I decided to keep it mostly to stuff shown in that layout, except I included the Medical Officer's kit that the Camillus scalpel came out of because I think the kit is pretty cool by itself :)

Is the guard simply bent/shaped sheet metal??
I was thinking of having a leather "sheath" made
A sheath for the WHOLE machete, not just the blade

If you get time==>
Can you take some pics of the guard for me??
My buddy has a machine shop
Maybe he can fabricate one for me..........

The guard is just a piece of sheet metal. It looks like it was probably stamped in a single piece, folded and spot welded. I'll try to take some detail pics for you in the next couple of days. I don't think it would be too hard for someone with a machine shop to do something pretty similar.

Stunning display!!

I have never seen it's equal. :thumbup:

The new picture looks great and the spatula is right at home!

All the best

I picked one up after that pic was taken. They show up once in a while on ebay. Send me an email or PM and we can exchange info.

Wondering why the Camillus catalog showing the knives that went to war left out the M3s??
