At a local Gun Show, I picked up an old Ruana, and I am not sure what I have. Overall, the knife is almost 10 inches long. It is a clip point with a generous choil. It has a brass guard, and unlike most Ruanas I've seen the handle is a large round of Elk Stag, a beautiful piece I might add, with fingergrooves and no bolster or butt cap.

The sheath is the original sheath with a "Made in Montana" sticker on the back. On the back of the belt loop in ink it is marked "BRASS #2."

Underneath the belt loop marked in little pin pricks, is a date that I think is 12-25-84.

I don't know much about Ruanas--could any of you guys tell me anything about this knife? It has been used, and has a nice patina, but doesn't appear to have been abused.

Any information would be appreciated.

Oh, by the way, it is marked RUANA and underneath that, BONNER,MT.

Ruana makes some nice using knives. In some circles, some of them are quite collectable, and worth $$.
You might have more luck over at, the Bernard Levine knife identification forum, just south of here.
A picture would really help.

Thanks, guys, for the information. I really like the knife. It is a solid piece, and very attractive. It appears I got quite a bargain, too.;)

Thanks also for the link to the web site, Bob.

Off now to go fondle my Ruana with increased appreciation...
