Finally finished polishing and finishing the handles on my Kobras. Buffed the blades with white compound on a sewed musin buff, then Zam on a loose cotton buff. Sharpened with a convex edge then stropped on leather. Sanded handles and applied 10-15 coats of Tru-Oil. Buffed brass and sprayed with clear lacquer.

Nice job! I like the way the wood grain shows up. I'm partial to wood natural beauty, anyway. Need to work on my wood handles of the various styles.

Great pix of beautiful handles. Maybe folks can develop a mental image now when I say "beautifully grained saatisal."

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!

Where is Walosi?!?! WOODCHUCK ALERT-----WOODCHUCK ALERT!!!:D

Nice Work Ferg:) I'm wiping slobber off my keyboard! honestly I started to drool when I looked at the wood handle closeups! Is that a bad sign? :D

Really pretty, and very nicely done. Wood is still one of the most beautiful natural materials to make anything out of. I prefer ominously black horn handles, but that's just me. My khuks are a little scratched up and stained in places, but no less well loved.
They'll get polished back up when I get home.

By gosh, that is a Sirupati, but ain't she pretty:)

Nice work!

Now you have to build a matching display cabinet to show them off.

I WAS WONDERIN HOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE THEY LOOK FANTASTIC BUT HOW DO THEY HANDLE. THE GRIP LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE AWFULLY SLIPPERY, IF SWEATY AS WELL. ????? :D :D

I've never thought about polishing the wooden handles before, but I certainly am now.
They look great :)

Umm, isn't that middle one a sirupati?

Well, I don't know. It is much, much thinner, narrower and lighter than my 25" sirupati. It was sold to me (not by Bill) as a Kobra, and the dimensions say that it is. The Cho, or course, and the inlays suggest Sirupati. Maybe a hybrid? It is several years old, and you know how the Kamis like to add/change things. Bill, what do you think?

The nice thing about Tru-Oil, is that I can lightly sand them with 1000 grit wet-or-dry sandpaper if I need a better grip. Then when you are through using them just put a fresh coat on with your finger and they're shiny again. I haven't had to do that though. The slick finish seems to stick to your hand pretty well. Kinda like horn.
