This sheath is also for a Battle Rat (I'll soon have another one from Swamp Rat).
I've used 0.090" kydex for this one, and am using chicago screws for the first time.
Details:
I applied some of the suggestions you guys made to this sheath. It has multiple carry options. There are two belt attachment clips, one for lower-ride and one for higher-ride. Both of those can be worn either vertically, horizontally, or at a 45 degree angle (canted forward). Three to four chicago screws hold the belt clip on (depending upon position), and it is very strong. The clip pivots on one of he screws and is fastened by two to three others (yes, their is reasoning to their spacing
). The belt attachment can be removed from the belt without removal of the belt ( :footinmou ), but stays nicely on the belt. If ultimate security is required, a piece of cord or chicago screw can be put through the hole in the clip (hard to explain, see pics). The retention is superb, and about at the upper limit for my hand strength (to remove knife, I brace my thumb on the rounded kydex above the spine/top-of-handle of the knife and push). For ultimate security, a piece of chord or a chicago screw or something can be pushed through the hole near the mouth of the sheath. BTW, the larger holes in the sheath can be used to tie the sheath to a pack or for a leg tie.
BTW, thanks for the tip about putting tape above the retention area on the handle. It worked great. Now, I don't have to fold the kydex above the retention area to get the knife to slide into the sheath....it fits in, right out of the mold.
All suggestions appreciated!
