I have both, and all things being equal which is preferable for fighters and Tactical knives with a blade 7"-8" in length, they will made by the stock removal method, and will be edge quenched.
Thanks,
Scott

My vote would be for the L6 but I don't use it enough to be sure. I'm sure you will get a more qualified answer.

as far as i know your 10xx steel will hold a edge as well as L6 but it will not be as tough you can beat the hell out of L6 and not have to worrie about it failing on you .

What Brook said, I've made a lot of knives out of L-6, and while not pretty, with an edge quench have found them to be damn near indestructible.

The last test blade I made out of L-6 had a 5 1/2" blade and was bent 90 deg. over a dozen times befor the edge finaly cracked.

I've found the edge holding to be the same or nearly the same as 1095. I have found 1095 to be subject to metal fatigue.

Eigther would be a good choice, however, my preferance would be for L-6. Eigther way, the heat treat is the most important.
